Your Own Jet... What Will It Be?

Fri Aug 12, 2005 3:54 am

Hey... One can always dream...

I have day dreamed about this so many times...

Let's say you're a multi-billionaire CEO of a multinational company, and a plane lover (A prerequisite). Your company's HQ is in NYC, and you have offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and South Africa...

Since you're such a good CEO and they decided to spend $200 million to buy your own private jet... what would you choose?

(You can only choose planes that's currently in production)

Size doesn't matter .... I take a G550 withouth a moment of hesitation. The most elegant airplane ever designed ...

777-200 of course. With a little bit of customization needed. I would sport a nice tall pair of winglets and would deffinately have to have a full lounge/bar, a large theater room, maybe a gentlemans club, a few suites, couple of offices, and a spa and sauna room...a bit overboard I guess, but if I could afford it I would do it.

for me i'd take a A340-200. Exec config, obviously... 50 seats at the front for my guests, and an office room, washroom (with shower etc.), tv room, bedroom and a dining/drinking area
Where are you going?

I'd get two planes...

Global Express for the lower 48 states and flying to smaller airports.

Still deciding between a 773ER or a A345... :-p

773ER is more efficient, will have more room and MTOW, so I can put more toys in there for myself (showers, bed roooms, living room, a bar... )

A345 has 4 engines so I won't be restricted by ETOPS, and is a lot quieter than B777s.

I think I'd get a BBJ2 and use the extra $100 million or so to get some nice homes in those cities and maybe a couple of those new Bentley Continental GTs. Those are sweeeet.

F-15 Eagle.

Not an option?

SpaceShipOne.

Still no?

OK, a G550 and a Cessna Mustang.

They only produced 2 sections to test out the new manufacturing methods. No engines yet... those are pretty important to your private jet, no?

A good CEO wouldn´t spend all the $200 million  Wink .
So I´d choose a nice BBJ2 with an exclusive paint scheme and even more exclusive interior (like the Eagle / N737SP)

A BBJ3, or as I would call it, the 757-200LR. It would (does) have better airport performance than the BBJ. Design it so that the entire cargo area would hold fuel. (Hell, it would be a bitch to get bags in there without a loader anyways) Winglet equipped of course. 8,500 nm range.

An interior layout like in these photos as well as some first class "suite" seats like UA or BA has for my staff with office(s) and one or two private bedrooms.

Yea, that'll do.  bigthumbsup

Their not jets and there certainly not in production but I'd love to commission someone to build me a zepplin (helium filled of course) or a Boeing 314 clipper (with turboprops), they would take a while to get you to where you want to go but the ride would be enjoyable and there would be no plane in the air with more style.

Otherwise I'd settle for an A332.

I would go for an A330-200. About 30-50 seats would be good, then I would need a TV-room, bathroom (w/toilet and a shower), a bedroom and a bar with a nice selection of wines and single-malt.

I think a 707 would be kinda nice, nostalgic you might say. No needs for ETOPS, big enough for you, your family and about 100 of your closest friends  Smile All though a C5 or C17 would be nice too, you could bring your HMMWV with you and make dirt/grass landings, equip some cargo containers with PAX suites and you are ready for almost anything. I personally would keep a Cirrus SR22-G2 in the back for fun.

Here all you are....talking about all these great airliners to use as your corporate airliner. Sure they are all great planes that are more than sufficient to give you the luxury and space that is suitable for the typical egotystical panzy CEO that wants everyone to bow down to them and treat them like a king. The only problem is that they are slow!

If I had that kind of money, and it was legal, I would want something personal, fast and fun. So I would have to say my choice is the F/A-18E - Super Hornet! Yah Baby! Be a man...no the typical CEO.  box

Bah, all this new junk :p I would take a B29 bomber retrofitted inside to be more modern (looks wise, keep the old stuff though) and have powerpoints for laptops  Smile

Kitchen,Bed,Laptop charge areas, and seating for about 50 or less would be fine  Smile

Well...when i first read this tag I was getting my whole fleet of private jets ready, but since we're talking only $200 million...

I'd probably go for a 767-300ER with RB211s

Or buy a used MD-11 with the PW4000 and fix it up.
