Worth it? Depends how much you like the look of tired leather seats and Saudi Arabian speed internet
Have to say RCCs are not the best airline lounges I have graced. On the whole the carriers of American lounges don't seem to be as hot as those of European and Asian carriers. After being "pampered" with free drinks I always feel a little hard done by having to fork out for beer in an RCC....especially when the staff shout at you for having the audacity to order a beer when you clearly aren't 21 (which I was, I showed ID
and I was still shouted at!).
Example, at LHR T3
you have a choice of UA
RCC, London Lounge (AC/SAS shared lounge) and SQ
Raffles lounge. UA
RCC was visited dead last and I didn't hang around for too long....
I've been to three (LHR
) and CDG
was the best as it was quietest (too many shouty Americans in the others. yes Americans I love you but many need to learn microphones on cellphones are sensitive
just spoil me in their lounges...
Having said all of the above it does surely depend how much you fly. If it were to work out at $15 per visit and I had no other means of "getting away from the masses" it'd be worth it. Perhaps one of the tiers of Priority Pass may be more suited to you. A wider variety of lounges, many RCCs and in many more airports.
