LHR-NRT On What Airline?

Mon Aug 29, 2005 12:21 am

Hi guys,
I am planning a trip with my family (5 Persons) to Tokyo in April. The lowest prices on this route (around 550 GBP) are with Aeroflot, Alitalia, Austrian, Lufthansa and SAS via their european hubs of course. All the direct fligths (Jal, Ana, BA, VS) cost around 800. Which of the airlines stated is the best on this route in terms of entertainment/service?

Cheers,
Paul

To be honest with you, I highly recommend ANA. I flew them on a direct from IAD to NRT in Y class, and it was wonderful.

If you had to go via a European airport, then I would choose SAS, then LH!

SAS has a much better in-flight service, as they have PTV's, and LH doesnt!

If you wan't to fly direct I would choose ANA or VS, VS flights are on the 346, which are great!

I'm not sure if LHR will receive the ANA 77W's by April, but if they do, then choose ANA!

Rob!  Smile

Well, if SQ is an option I would jump right on that one, yet you didn't list it so maybe not.

The only SQ negative is bad seat pitch in their 744/772 varients.

As for the other airlines, I don't have experience flying with them but I would go for JAL, ANA, or SAS. Three airlines with nice three letter acronyms  Smile.

Thank you very much for your opinions...it should be SAS then for us. Sometimes there are cheap fares on VS and ANA, if so, I know I won't make a mistake  Wink

Direct BA, connect LH. My opinion.

Found a flight from LHR to NRT via VIE on Austrian in april next year for around £460 on expedia.co.uk, per person that is. Ain't gonna get much cheaper than that. Whatever you choose to do, book and pay quickly, since more and more fuel 'surcharges' and such might be slapped on as we discover that we don't have any oil left...

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

ANA or JL.

Both excellent service.

Thanks for all the answers. I also found AUA is very cheap. How is their service/IFE to Tokio compared to SAS? Any experience?

Cheers,
Paul
