Who Would You Fly For?

Tue Aug 30, 2005 6:21 am

It's a simple question. If you could fly as a pilot for any airline, who would you fly for and why?

For me it would be CO. The variety of destinations offered on the 737 and 757/767 fleets would keep things interesting. All the Central and South American routes on the 737 out of IAH, and all those European flights out of EWR on the 757/767 mean I wouldn't be stuck just flying domestic. Plus I know some people at Continental and it seems like a really great company to work for.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems with just potatoes.

AA, nothing better than that.

They have a huge network out of Miami and I love this city and I would love to fly those 777's out of MIA to deep south america and europe. Also they have the coolest pilot uniform out there.
If it ain't Boeing (or Embraer ;-)) I ain't Going!

A CO 757 pilot would be indeed an intresting choice due to the variety of destinations they serve. However for me, I'd like to go for a LH A340, that would be my dream ...  cloudnine

I'll second that.

Some might not consider it an 'airline', but I'd take-on a 767-34AF/ER for UPS any day.

Definitely Atlas Air / Polar Air Cargo on the 744 or flying DC-8-71 for anybody. I would also like to fly the L-1011 for anybody who'll let me, as well as the 727, I would kill for a job with UPS in Europe flying their 727-100's. But, I would fly anything for anybody as long as I was flying and I got paid to do what I love.

WN where the average flight is only about two hours in endurance, which means lots of take-offs and landings each day. And, where they encourage you - or at least don't discourage you - to hand-fly the airplane.

I would go for Scandinavian. Fly A330-330 and A340-300 out of CPH, nice combination of Asian and American destinations.

Id have to second WN. Yea flying a 777 or A346 or any other heavy across the world is glorious, it also seems to be boring. Id much rather prefer flying a few hours on a 737 doing more hands on the controls and more cycles.

Cheers,
Mike

I would also fly for anyone. Give me a flying job and I will most likely take it.
For a perfect airline it would be AA. Fly 737-800 first around the US and Carribean and Central America. Than move on to 777 flying out of MIA to South America Europe and even Asia once in a while.
Another great airline UA. Fly 767,777 or 747 all across the world. Lots of Asia and Europe and some South America. Any major Airline would be great but AA and UA would be the best. CX or CO would be a nice ones too.

Definitely AA. I'd love to be based out of MIA, or DFW. I do want to be a pilot, so hopefully one day I will find myself flying the 757 out of MIA or SJU to Latin American and Caribbean cities. After that, I would love to fly the 777 out of MIA / DFW to Europe, Asia and South America. Of course as a junior pilot I'd love AA for all the destinations they have in the U.S., and I would love to fly the MD-80s out of DFW.

Another dream would be to fly for BA out of London. I could think of no other airline that serves as many cities, and really utilizes their planes like they should be used. (Maybe LH?). My dream there would be to start off shorthaul flying the A319/A320 out of LHR to europe. Then move onto the 777 flying EVERYWHERE! Of course I would also love to fly the 744 on the ultra-longhaul flights to Asia, Oceania and parts of the US / South America. What a fantastic airline.  Smile

I have to agree though that if offered a job, I would probably fly for anyone...BUT....for instance, Despite the fact that WN is a great airline in many ways, as a Pilot I wouldnt be totally satisfied with all domestic flights, as well as flying on a 737 (even an NG) for my whole career. I'd probably fly with them for a few years and apply for another job elsewhere. One of the most attractive things about AA/BA is thatI want bigger planes and intl destinations!

If I wanted to see the world I'd probably go with BA. I also consider London to be a good place to live.

However if I wanted to live in Beirut then I'd be an MEA pilot.

For me? I'd like to be on the right seat of a 777-300ER with Emirates for a while and then of course, would like to shift to the left seat of the same aircraft!

I would be happy to be flying for SkyWest, based in Denver or SLC. I'm sick of 100+ degree days and all the smog here. However my ultimate goal would be to fly for United Airlines, if they are not around then I would fly for any airline except Southwest.

Working towards being an RJ pilot myself. As such, looking at Comair, AC Jazz, ASA, Pinnacle, ExpressJet and the like..

I dont think you realize how tired that will make you.

As for me CO or NW, UA is too cheap with employees, I hated WN's atmosphere when I flew them, B6 wont be around plus not unionized sorry im not going to fly a plane for $10.00 an hr. AA would be ok, dont really care for their route structure. US/HP, eh, again, not a great place, good airlines, just not my style. Delta, love their route network, but who knows. Lack of Asia turns me off.

Me, jetBlue on the A320. But flying one type of plane might get boring so maybe AA out of DFW. Would love the airport and I love Texas. Or maybe a regoinal carrier out of JFK/LGA.

I want to fly the brand new 747s UPS will be getting in '07. I can fly my favorite airplane, and one of the benefits of flying Cargo is that you don't have to worry about passengers for any reason whatsoever.

For Lufthansa or Singapore Airlines on either the A330-300 (LH), or the 777-200ER (SQ).

Cheers,
