Economy Class On US

Thu Sep 29, 2005 2:16 pm

What is the economy class like on US A321 and A330s? Would it be comfortable for 12 hours of flying? How is the service? I've never flown on US before.

Where are you flying to? US does not operate 321's and 330's on the same routes (and I don't believe they have ANY 12 hour routes!)

In general, US economy is like any other major US airline. Nothing better, nothing worse.

I flown on US with A330 MAD PHL and PHL LGW in June05 and it was confortable. At least they have PTV so you can watch a couple of movies and make easier the flight.

I'm looking at sea-phl-man in economy. I've never flown a US airline to the UK before... only AC.

I flew 3 times with USAir in the following routes:

YYZ-CLT - 737-400
CLT-STL - A319
STL-PHL - EMB145 (USAirExpress)

I had always good flights with them, the first two they were quite short so we just got a bag of peanuts and sodas, but the all the crews were excelent, kind and the seating was good too. The last flight from STL to PHL the plane was quite small but we had a box for breakfast and although there was only an F/A and the plane was full she managed to feed all of us!!! Very dynamic woman!!! So overall I had a good time flying with USAir!!!

I've flown SEA-PHL on the US A321 countless times, and it's a pleasant flight. The seat pitch on the 321 is 32", which is average for the US majors. I'm 5'8" and it's plenty comfortable for me. You'll have IFE, the standard movie followed by short-subject programming. In-Flight Cafe will also be offered on this flight (assuming it's not a red-eye). The food is $10, but actually good.

Side note, I go to WSU too. Where do you live? I'm in Rogers.

Being a Star nut, I enjoyed my US flights!

Although I hated flying on the regional jets between STL and CLT and the guy on the first leg sitting next to me stunk, I couldn't have asked for a better set of flights.

TPA-CLT was my first time flying an Airbus, and it was an A321. It's just a little smaller than the 757 and carries a few less passengers (169 vs. 180-188); it also felt less powerful and felt like it was straining to climb. There was also a horrible vibration on takeoff.

Comfortwise, it was typical Airbus. The extra seat width was noticeable, but I found the legroom to be a bit lacking whereas it was the opposite with the 757.

I've flown on US Airways A321's plenty of times and honestly, it's my favorite aircraft in the US Airways fleet. I always have comfortable rides on them and as far as service goes......in the past couple of years i've been very proud of US Airways, in general you get great inflight service, and like USAirways321 said, the inflight meals, though you have to buy them, are not that bad.
