VIE-DXB On OS Or FRA/MUC-DXB On LH?

Thu Oct 20, 2005 6:41 am

I have two options in December to travel from Copenhagen to Dubai.

Austrian Airlines via Vienna on a Lauda Air B737-800 (Falco). This aircraft shall be fitted with intercontinental seats.

or

Lufthansa B747 dayflight from Frankfurt or a nightflight with a A343 from Munich.

When taking the MUC flight, I will arrive in the morning and "save" one hotelovernight...but if I compare the onboard concept - LH or OS...both Star Alliance so the FF miles is the same.

Any comments?

As much as I dislike LH, in this case I would choose them.

As you already mentioned, the overnight flight is perfect to save a night in a hotel because you are arriving in the morning and not at 9 PMish like the FRA flight. Last year I flew on AZ to DXB and it was also an overnight flight, we arrived and went directly to the beach after we had breakfast, much better than arriving, having drinks and go to bed like you do when you take the daytime flights with arrival in the evening.

If you are traveling on a stand-by ticket, then I can only say: Good Luck! I traveled in October/November 2003 on a LH stand-by ticket from FRA to DXB and it was pretty bad. Fellow A.net member SQ325 and I were booked in Biz Class but they downgraded us to Eco because Biz was totally overbooked. It comes even better, on the return flight we got the last two seats on a LX flight, I am glad we did because the LH flight was completely booked out.

Have fun in Dubai, a great city!

I second Patrick in his opinion!
Get on that A343 MUC - DXB and arrive early morning. Plus have a morning departure (and not sometime after midnight).
