This has happened to me a couple of times, I guess I'll step up and say it.

Just to let you know for future reference, these type of posts should go in the aviation polls and preferences section  Smile

But in my own way I find their livery beautiful, probably because it reminds me of the beautiful country the livery represents!

How about the old school livery that still looks good over 30 years after it was introduced?

American has the classiest livery in the US.

AA's current livery was faux-modern when it was introduced and it just looks old and busted now. It's not even retro, it's just old. This is retro, and this is classy:

*That* livery looks just as good now as it ever did, as that photo is proof of (that was the Retrojet livery).

I don't know, but I think some of Continental's meatball schemes were pretty old school.

It is kind of sad browsing through the photos from the 1980's, because I wasn't around, and I saw how much variety in the skies is gone.  We have more efficient aircraft now, but seeing things show up on the pages like DC-8's, 707's, 727's, and even VC-10's..........I missed out on some good spottin'! Here is what I found:

I have decided to make an album with alot of these old school liveries in it. Be sure to add to this thread any photos that you want contributed to the album!

EDIT: I noticed when breezing back through that this was meant to be CUURENT old school liveries. Oh well. As for current ones, I agree that AA, AI, and IB take charge of that catergory. AA is still looking good though! I love that livery!

This one has been around for as long as I can remember (and I'm putting myself in the  old  category here!), but I still think it's cool...

Hear hear: thirty-six years without significant change and it still looks great today. Whoever designed this livery knew what he/she was doing.

Are you sure you posted the right picture? While I will admit that TW's final livery (debuted in 1995) is very classy (and their best IMHO); I wouldn't necessarily place it in the old school category.

At least among North American carriers, as already mentioned; AA's livery is clearly in the old school category... mainly due to the cheatline along the windows.

Olympic Airways would be another.

At first glance, the thubmnail looked sorta like an old 707 or DC-8! You are right..that is a really old school livery!

Id call it old school Gold cheatline with red, Classic times new roman fine print Trans World titles on an oldschool 747.

Perfect fit,

You know, I was thinking about that just the other day....think of how much money AA has saved over the years by not coming out with a new livery, and think of how many times the other major's have changed theirs since AA introduced this one....3,4,5 times.....lol.

Anyway, just goes to show you that the Italians are the masters when it comes to design!!
