Glasgow is one of the best cities in the UK for shopping, only second to London.

It has numerous bars!

It houses a great football team. The other team isnt that great - sitting 4th in the league.

Inchinnan Road is usually quite good.

Glasgow is a really nice city, but if your stuck at the airport then that's probably not much use! Big grin

I believe there is a "spotters mound" which some of the GLA regulars will be able to tell you how to get to.

If you had more time, you could catch the train down to PIK and see some heavies, but that's probably not such a good idea when you've only got a couple of hours.

Yeah, 4 hours at most.
I'm just going to the airport for some spotting, although I might not go.

Pitty they can't even get into Europe unlike the team sitting 4th in the league  Wink And what was the score in the 1st old firm game this season? Big grin

Depends on what time you are going to GLA at. Mornings are usually busier, but now Winter is setting in there isn't too much to shout about. The EK 77W should begin daily services in December now. Arriving at 1125 and out at 1300 or similar. PK will start a 2x weekly service to GLA in November but the aircraft arrive in the evening and depart at night...

CO will operate the 757 daily in the morning I think? You should also catch Zoom, Air Transat, MyTravel, Thomson, First Choice etc + FlyGlobespan and easyJet etc.

As for the mound, well.....Once you leave the terminal turn right and walk  Smile You should pass the international pier, keep going straight. You should after a few minutes of walking see a kind of construction site. Just walk into it and you should see a big pile of rocks and soil etc...with a few chairs on top Big grin Thats "the mound".

I heartily enjoyed my weekend in Glasgow. My dad and I managed to drink a LOT of beer. =)

Buchanan Centre is the place to shop as far as I could tell. We looked around there quite a bit.

I caught a CO 757 and AA 767 departure before departing on my US 767.

Oh darn it  Sad, I got the Airports magazine yesterday and it showed a picture of 2X CO 757's , 1 AA 767 and 1 US 767-200.
So only CO will be there, will it be 2X daily on a saturday ?
Will Air Canada, CO, EK,and Zoom and Air Transat and any other international arrivals/ departures be there between say 11:00 and 16:30 on a Saturday ?

Quoting Gofly (Reply 4):

Yeah, but there aren't any international departures from EDI this weekend , will there ?, or atleast not as many as GLA.

Cheers

I second that. The internation pier is busy in the morning (10-11) with CO 752, US762, AA762 AC762 all their when i was there. Other than that, its just like KLM cityhopper, BA, BD and some charters...

Go EDI if you can...
Where are you going?

Go to PIK, Ryanair, charters, 747s, military a/c, regular An124s.

CO presumably end their 11x weekly 757's very soon and revert back to 1x daily. So there won't be too much activity. Zoom, MyTravel, Thomas Cook, First Choice, Flyglobespan, Air Scotland etc + the likes of BA,BD,BE,U2. Perhaps SN Brussels, I think they operate 2 flights on a Saturday...

If we're talking this Saturday, it's CO's last day of 10x weekly ops, so 2 EWR flights that day. It depends how you are defining the term 'international', because I could go on and on about the GSM,LH etc. flights, but I suspect that's not what you mean, and this is a thread on GLA afterall....  Smile

Well as it's the end of the summer timetable, there will be lots of 'last ofs'  Wink Last BY B762 visit this Saturday too, but the 2 EWR flights are the only transatlantic flights, TCX to YYZ is on Sunday. EDI will be busier than GLA with respect to the number of aircraft movements, however GLA might get a few more heavies, I don't know, most might have ended for summer by now?
