Airport ranks supreme! Heck, they have real airlines in the movie with the exception of Trans Global!

Would have to be 'Turbulence' with Ray Liotta.
First Class passengers are my favourites. They can't get any further forward without an ATPL.

Me too!
I wonder if they will ever demonstrate the automatic landing instructions on the FMC as realistic as in this movie again...

'AIRPLANE'

"What's ur vector victor?"

"Good luck, we're all counting on you"

"Please excuse the mild turbulence, this is caused by periodic air pockets. By the way, does anyone know how to fly?"

"If Kramer finds out about this, the shits gonna hit the fan"

"The FAA and the airlines, they're all a bunch of liars and cheats!"

"It's a big building with patients in it, but that's not important now"

"Surely you must be kidding me. No i'm not kidding you, and stop calling me surely"

"Ease her down Striker . . . DOWN!"

"Have u ever been to a turkish prison?"

"Do you hang around the gymnasium?"

"Have u ever seen a grown man naked?"

"I'll take Ham on Five, Hold the Mayo"

I could go on forever! Not only the best aviation movie, but a top 10 comedy overall!

I cant remember which Airport movie it was but I loved the one where the 707 is stuck in the snow and they are working feverishly to remove it. The mechanic jumps in the cockpit and throttles her up breaking all the rules!
He gets the plane out just in the nick of time! The mechanic has some great lines in there when the other guy tells him he cant do that!

I think that one was the original Airport with George Kenedy. Oooh oooh! It's coming back to me now! Joe Patroni! That was the mechanics name.
It was Airport 1970! The one with the bomb on board! Dont you just love the scenes inside the airport? All those wonderful old airline ticket counters that are names now long gone!?

Hell yeah! That landing gear that tore through a Vegas hotel! Awesome! Turbulence 2 and 3 sucked though, and I think there's a 4th film out now, probably sucks as well...

I like Executive Decision. Although one of favorite movies (not an ailrine, but an airliner) is Air Force One with Harrison Ford.

A close second is Flight 90: Disaster on the Potomac.

'Turbulence' definately for me, 'Turbulence 2' was also quite good but not as dramatic as number 1. "She's not a stewardess, she's a Flight attendant" quality line :P

The Original Airport . . .

The (TWA) mechanic is Joe Petroni . . . who proclaims "The don't call 'em emergencies any more, they call 'em Petronis!!" And when he deals with that pilot on that stuck "Trans-GLobal 707" he says, "Take the Wings off this thing and you can use it for a tank. This baby can handle anything except a bad pilot!" Once the plane is out, he says, quite gleefully when the guy in the right seat says The book says that couldn't be done, "Well, that's one nice thing about the 707, it never learned to read".

That's my vote: The original Airport.

Definitely the original "Airport." But second place goes to an all-time classic, arguably the film that started it all, the John Wayne epic, "The High and the Mighty." Really, all the ingredients of all the airline movies that followed it are included in this film. The doomed airplane, the heroic pilot, the plane load full of eccentric passengers (each with a back story) - they're all here, and John Wayne is at the helm. Truly a classic. But for sheer watchability, I still enjoy the original "Airport" the best.

Despite this not being an "airline" movie, "Air Force One" is by far the greatest movie ever made by name. Hands down. "Get off my plane!" (YES!!!)

I think to answer this, I need to qualify my answer by mentioning which movies I have (or have seen)... Airport '70, Airport '75, Airport '77, Concorde/Airport '79, International Airport ('85), Airplane!, Flight 90: Disaster on the Potomac, Ghost of Flight 401, Crash: Flight 401, Fire and Rain, Air Force One, Starflight One, Executive Decision, Turbulence, Turbulence 2, Turbulence 3, Mystery of Flight 1501, Passenger 57, Murder on Flight 502, Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232 , Skyjacked, The Pilot, Pushing Tin, Hero, Ground Control, Alive, Airspeed, Twilight Zone / Part 4, Die Hard 2, Nowhere To Land, Miracle Landing

Classics: Airport '70, Airplane!
Worst: Airspeed

Favorites: Turbulence, Passenger 57, Air Force One, Executive Decision

Turbulence is interesting because it is one of the few movies to turn a 747 airplane cabin into an eerie bloodbath scene. Almost like Friday the 13th goes airborne.

Can't agree with that, as, in the small part of this film that I once watched, there was an absolutely unforgiveable continuity error, when a DC9 or 737 is shown taking off, but the crashing aircraft in the next scene is a 737 or DC9-can't remember which way round it was, but it certainly wasn't a DC9 and then a DC9 again, or a 737 and then a 737 again.

After that, I switched off in disgust.

My personal favourite is a British 1955 film, "Out of the clouds." It was made in and around LHR, so features some absolute classics. Away from the aircraft however, I have to admit this was a typically awful British B movie of the fifties-some of the love scenes were so bad I had to fast forward through them.

Airplane's pretty good too, though in a very different way: "Surely you can't be serious? Yes I am and my name isn't Shirley."

I actually have the movie "Fire and Rain"
One of my favorite lines from the movie:

"What kind of plane was it?"

"It was an L-1011"

"What!? That cant be. L-1011's don't crash!"

This was from the scene where the DL executives in ATL are getting word of the crash.
