SIN - NRT On UA, NW Or JL?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 12:55 pm

Folks,
I need your opinion:

Have to go from SIN to NRT.

My choice is:

NW 006
STD 06:10, STA 13:50
Airbus 330-200

UA 890
STD 07:15, STA 14:40
Boeing 777-200

JL 712
STD 08:00, STA 15:55
Boeing 767-200

Flying in C.
What is the best choice in terms of service class, aircraft, seat, food, entertainment, etc?

Appreciate your input.
Tks.

Cheers,

Rather than being discreet, why not SQ? Are the choices schedule driven or FF driven?

Go with SQ, or JL. JL's not bad, really.

Like PhilSquares asked... do things like prices, schedules, and FF matter?

No agreement with SQ.
I do want to add ANA to my list.

Seat (Lie-flat or not) matters
IFE (AVOD or not) matters
Schedule matters.
Aircraft matters. (B763 - the other woman in my life) - even though it seems there is no 763 on the route.
Food matters to certain extent.

FF or price don't matter, company pays and I am in aviation industry, so no FF miles.

Per airline, what are the features like:
Seat
IFE
Food
Aircraft

Please include NH in your verdict!

Tks,
brgds,

If you fly C-class, I would suggest NW with A330: great World Business Class seats (catering I don't know on this stretch, though)...
don't throw away tomorrow !

I have flown NRT-SIN on UA in biz class, 744. Apart from the very late arrival in SIN it was excellent, but it looks like you have an earlier flight in mind.

UA offers a charcoal leather seat that reclines about 60 degrees, so its close to flat. You have a PTV with about 12 channels i think. They will give you noise cancelling headsets so the ride will be very quiet even if you don't want to listen to or watch any of the IFE. The Tokyo based cabin crew will be very attentive, but I didn't find them on the friendly side... strictly business. Food was very nice, and there was plenty of it. I don't remember all the menu choices but it was pretty much asian-fusion including a small serving of sushi.

I suppose I would like to be able to compare the competion on the route, but my job limits me to flying U.S. carriers and I've never been too thrilled with NW, so UA it is for me. Enjoy your trip!

UA is nice. Its always neat flying an airline that isn't based in the origin or destination countries.
