Opinions On ATA?

Wed Nov 16, 2005 1:36 pm

Hey everyone! So I was just looking at the itinerary that my aunt got for me and my gramma for Thanksgiving. I haven't flown with someone for almost 8 years now, this is gunna be weird flying with my gramma, lol. Anyways, so we are flying WN (which I'm not to exctied about, no offense anyone), from STL-MDW, and then ATA on to DCA. It will be the 738, so that is cool, that I get a new airline, and a new aircraft type to add to my list. Anyways, on ATA, do you get assigned seats, or are they like Southwest? Do they use the same terminals in MDW? Does ATA serve snacks, or is it buy on board? I would love it if you would share you opinions on ATA, with me, but not Southwest, I have already been on them. Thanks alot guys!  Big grin

The last time I flew ATA was last year on Christmas morning. Flight left PHX @ 0130 and we arrived MDW @ 0515. I was on a 757, and decided to pay the $80 dollars to upgrade to their new business class. Definitly worth it, not because the service is much better, (I did get a drink before takeoff though) but because the wider seat and increased pitch was a Godsend that early, plus it was Christmas, so I treated myself. They had assigned seating when I was on. I don't remember if I could buy anything on board, but I was served snacks. However I had a scone from Starbucks at the airport with me, which was enough, so I never asked. ATA does use the same terminal as WN, it's all the way at the end of the concourse, though this may have changed since I went through with the construction MDW going on. Enjoy your flight, and enjoy the view of the Chicago skyline, one of the best views in the world! (in my humble opinion)

Ok, wait for the RJ to pass, cleared to push tail south Mike, and you're cleared to spin #2 in the push.

I've said it on here before, in my humble opinion, ATA is the best airline in North America. It beats the socks off any of those so-called "legacy carriers": their staff is friendly, their planes are relatively new and clean, they're cheap and usually punctual. All the things that AA, UA and friends are not.

I flew ATA Christmas Eve 2004 from IND to PIT via MDW. Great planes great staff. It's a shame that they don't fly to PIT anymore.
