13hours BA Or 8hours IB?

Wed Nov 23, 2005 1:38 am

Hi everyone,

I have a problem regarding to my Brazil vacation  Smile

Actually I wanted to take BA (because of some BA miles) but now I checked the flight times for the flight back from Rio and was a bit scared: BA need 13:30h because of the stop in GRU, IB need just 8:40h ..... both flights plus around 1:30h to FRA.

My dilemma now is ....
"5h shorter flight, poor service and no IFE" or
"5h more and good service with nice IFE"

Actually I would tend to the IB trip because it is a night flight and 5h are a long time ....but I read so many bad things about IB's long haul service (overbookings, baggage problems, bad service, IFE).

What do you think?

Can I fly inbound with BA and outbound with IB when I want to use my miles?

Thanks for all your Information
Tobi

5 hours is not really that much if you like to fly. Besides, BA sounds interesting.

Now I just wanted to clarify a few things:

Quoting Tobi3334 (Thread starter):
no IFE

I think you were trying to say "personal IFE". As many other airlines, IB offers 2 movies (shown on several screens distributed along the cabin) plus other programs and a good variety of audio channels...and that is IFE.

PTVs?...that is personal IFE.

IB's long haul service (overbookings, baggage problems, bad service, IFE).

Overbookings: IB is not the only airline with this problem.

Baggage problems: IB is among the European carriers that loose the least amount of luggage.

Bad service: Well...I am not trying to convince anyone here, but many people see Iberia's service "through a different glass", and many things they wouldn't notice or criticize on other airlines they really dislike when it's Iberia.
I have had good and bad crew members on my IB flights, just as with any other airline.

I would go for BA. I wouldn't mind stopping for a few hours and taking in a totally different airport, carriers etc

But thats my personal opinion mate, go with whatever makes you happy.

Of course I don't wanted to prejudice Iberia. I have never flown them, but I'm interested to do. The only thing I can refer to at the moment are the traveller comments in the internet and the problems above I've read quite often in the net.
Anyhow.... I would give them a chance especially when I can get on one of there A346s  Smile

Don't worry. I didn't take your comments as an offense. Besides...I don't even work for them.  Smile

Isn't it possible to earn/spend BA miles on IB flight, as they are both Oneworld members?
Last flight: SAW-CPH on H9 on 02/11/09 - Next Flights: 23/12/09 CPH-AAL on QI, 30/12/09 CPH-LHR on SK, 19/01/10 CPH-CDG-

Yes, that is no problem. That was the reason why I checked also IB's schedule.

If I was you ( which last time I looked I wasn't  Wink but..) I would go with BA.
The seats, food, IFE and service is extremely good ( can't compare with IB) but I know it's a good airline to fly on. And of course, you've got your own PTV with 18 television channels and (I think) 12 audio channels. Plus, If you travel in their premier economy product ( World traveler Plus) you get better leg room, laptop power plug and some other little things like wash bags.

If it is possible, I would recommend one way with BA and the other way with IB.

More airplanes, more sights in between, and more information to make an informed choice.

And, of course, a trip report is expected!! Happy flying!
