Cheapest Way From US To Eastern Europe

Fri Nov 25, 2005 3:50 am

I'm planning a trip to Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Denmark next summer from Florida, and wanted to know the cheapest way to get there. Would like to go to Eastern Germany too, but if there's a cheap way to get directly to Prague, that would be better.

Any help is appreciated.

Would suggest a cheapt flight on AA to FRA or CO to TXL and then get a rail pass or use a local to get to CPH or PRG.

You don't want to be messing about with trains. Get yourself a flight to London and then take Easyjet or Ryanair from LTN, STN, LGW. You'll probblay pay the same to get to LON as you would to get to FRA and if you buy a LCC ticket now you'll get it for next to nothing.

You can fly into Amsterdam on Martinair (a much better airport to connect than the 3 London airports) and from there:

AMS-WAW on Sky-Europe
AMS-TXL on Air-Berlin
AMS-PRG on Smartwings
AMS-BTS on Sky-Europe
AMS-BUD on Sky-Europe or WIZZ
AMS-KRK on Sky-Europe or WIZZ
AMS-POZ on Sky-Europe
AMS-KTW on Sky-Europe
AMS-CPH on Sterling
AMS-BLL on Sterling
AMS-RIX on AirBaltic

above schedules for Summer 2006 season only !
don't throw away tomorrow !

Quoting MH017 (Reply 3):
AMS-PRG on Smartwings
AMS-BTS on Sky-Europe

There are some rumors about SkyEurope opening a base in PRG next year, which would be great because, frankly, Smartwings are a bad joke of an LCC. Unfortunately. Hopefully there will be more choice by then.

There's a number of carriers providing through service to Prague. I'd be very careful about scheduling an 'end on end' ticket situation where you fly, say, into AMS, and then on an another carrier onwards.

The reason is that if the first carrier gets delayed and you miss your flight, many times -- especially with LCC's -- you will forfeit the ticket.

Alitalia has a nonstop MIA-MXP that can connect onward to Prague very cleanly.
