Window Or Aisle

Sat Nov 26, 2005 5:06 am

In our new and improved BA news they have a section where they ask a passenger all sorts of questions such as, which cabin are you travelling in, why did you choose BA and also whether they prefer a window or aisle. Now i know the photographers will probably say window but what do you prefer?

Me

Longhaul - Aisle
Shorthaul - Window

Being 6ft 3in it's defiantly an aisle seat on longhaul and when possible a window seat on shorthaul especially if I mange to get the exit row. It's murder clambering over somebody trying to get to the toilet when you are at a window and it's 3 abreast seating especially when it's overnight flight and you have the "morn horn" oh and that's FA jargon not mine  Wink

First of all: NO middle seat !

Shorthaul (< 1.5h): While "Window" is preferred by me, I really don´t care too much.
Medium haul: Aisle
Longhaul in Y (if it can´t be avoided): Aisle
Longhaul in C: Window, facing north (i.e. out of the sun). Pick my seat at time of booking using Seatguru.

If I don't get my window seat, then you'll get to see how grumpy I can get!  grumpy  I love to look out the window, especially during taxi, take off and landing. If, for what ever reason, I get stuck with an aisle or middle seat then I'm like a little school boy in a toy store and not getting anything.

Usually it's been window for me, but now-a-days I'm starting to lean towards aisle, especialy on long-hauls.

Slashd0t,

Way to go!, gotta be a window seat every time, helps to spot aircraft tucked away, that you cant see from public areas.

Also love watching the ground fall away beneath you on take off, and; vice versa on landing, would hate to miss that!.

A window seat over all else. A window is important to my sanity on a plane.

Made sure I had a window seat on my recent LHR-SYD-LHR trip. Always do. Being 6'3", I usually try and succeed, in getting extra legroom too

Hi all.

Like everyone there are a number of factors that I have to consider.

Window- Only if I am flying with someone.
Only on Short Haul.

Aisle- Long Haul if I am on my own.

Short haul, esp if the scenery is interesting - window seat
Long haul - aisle seat - the extra shoulder room and leg stretching room outweighs being able to look out of the window during takeoffs and landing.

Besides, I find the windows are too low, and it's really uncomfortable sometimes trying to look out of them!

Having said that, the best sleep I've ever had on a plane, was in the middle seat, on a night 757 flight, so maybe there's a moral there!

If it's shorthaul I prefer a window seat because it beats the 'entertainment' they show!!
If its a daytime longhaul flight I suppose I would lean towards a window seat, once again for the view and better entertainment by looking out the window!
If its a nighttime longhaul flight I may choose to have an aisle seat because then (being 6ft 2) you don't have to do the splits or climb over a couple of people just to go to the toilet!! But on the other hand, I don't mind a window to sleep against, so basically I'm un-decided!!!!!!

95% of the time window so I can sleep and spot. Every now and then an Aisle just to mix things up.

I don't think I've ever sat in an aisle seat for a whole flight. It would drive me insane! I just booked my 1st long haul trip and made sure I got a window seat  Smile

For a flight that is 4 hours or less then I can survive with a window seat but anything more then definitely an aisle seat. But not just any aisle seat will do, on a 3x4x3 config I would like the aisle seat of the middle 4 but on a 2x4x2 config then then I would like the ones close to the window. I am abit picky so always try to pre-reserve my seat so I can get the ones I really want.

I'm almost always wishing I is was in the "other" on most flights. All depends who is sitting next to you. Being 2m tall, climbing over someone is just as bad as having someone climb over you. Needless to say I research my seat selection very carefully. Recently I have enjoyed the center single seat (2-1-2) that CO uses in it's 767's. On long haul international flights window seats are almost useless especially overnighters. Yet. . . . you can't talk with anyone, "please pass the Grey Poupon?"

I prefer the window seat on shorthaul flights. On longhaul flights it depends. If I am on an Airbus with 2-4-2 config I prefer the window seat, and if I am on a 747 with 3-4-3 config I prefer to sit by the aisle.
