BRU-BOS-BRU. How Would You Do It?

Mon Nov 28, 2005 3:48 pm

I am planning to visit family in Mass. In May and would like to know the most interesting way of getting there from Brussels in terms of aircraft/carriers/connections. As far as I know; most American carriers use 767's on the direct routes from the States to Brussels. I would prefer to fly a 747, 777, A340 or combination of these. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
I never think of the future - it comes soon enough.

In order to fly a portion of your journey on larger aircraft, why not fly BA via LHR, BA/AA via LHR or LH via FRA......neither routing is really out of the way and being that there is no nonstop service between BRU and BOS, you must make one connection in route anyway.

Suggestions, ranked by how awesome they may be:

  1. BUR-YYZ-BOS on EY 332/AC 32S (you may have to buy 2 tickets)

  2. BRU-LHR-BOS on BD 32S/VS 744

  3. BRU-LHR-BOS on BA 32S/744 or 772

  4. BRU-LHR-BOS on BA 32S/AA 772

  5. BRU-AMS-BOS on KL F70/332

  6. BRU-FRA-BOS on LH 32S or 737 or CRJ/744

  7. BRU-DUB-SNN-BOS on EI 32S/33S

  8. ZYR-CDG-BOS on TGV/AF 343

This is avoiding all possible 757/767 routings.

Quoting BrightCedars (Reply 3):
BRU-FRA-BOS on LH 32S or 737 or CRJ/744

As the request was for MAY, LH will be back to summer schedule to BOS with A343 from FRA 2pd and a daily A343 from MUC.
Apart from connecting LH at FRA or MUC, you as well can use LX via ZRH (LH-codeshare) flying on a A332 (or any combination of these 3 airports).

If you really fancy the unsual, you can still use another point-of-entry into the U.S. than BOS like JFK, EWR, ORD, IAD, DTW which will give you a much bigger choice of connections and a/c-types to use.

Anyhow, I assume in order to keep costs "under control" you will want to stick to one (1) alliance ?!
You can use for example for planning (if you look for exact dates) or also those RTW-planning tools (like the one available from can be handy in planning "unusual" routings.

Another highlight could be using BG BRU - JFK with still a DC-10 listed as equipment in May 2006 ! (but be aware that BG sometimes is a bit unreliable). BG usually also has GREAT rates for C-Class !

What about FI ? You could stop-over in Reykjavik for a couple of days ! But that would put you in a B752, and that´s a thing you were trying to avoid. And there seems to be no nonstop BRU-KEF in May 2006. Just connections via AMS/OSL/... - or a flight out of LUX ?! (using FI´s website one has to use different country-websites to get all FI´s airports in mainland Europe).
Carpe diem ! Life is too short to waste your time ! Keep in mind, that today is the first day of the rest of your life !

I would fly KLM to AMS and EWR (brand new A332) and CO to BOS. The same for the return trip.
Enjoy your trip.

I would probably give BA/AA a try or even VS they have a good in-flight service

Go BRU-MAD-JFK on Iberia and you will get to fly an A340-600.
From JFK you can take the new B6 Embraer 190 or an AA or DL flight...
