KLM MD-11

Mon Dec 05, 2005 2:42 am

Hey i was wondering if anyone could tell me what routes KLM operate their MD-11's on? Preferably inter-european routes... but I seriously doubt they would use them over short distances! So if anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Patrick.

KLM does not use their MD-11 on any European routes. They fly it mainly to Africa (Lagos, Dar Es Salaam, Kilimanjaro), Middle East (Dubai), Asia (Hyderabad), Carribean (Aruba, Bonaire), USA (San Francisco), South America (Lima, Quito and Guayaquil).
That should be it.

The following routes are operated with the MD11. Some destinations are also operated with B767/B777 or A330 ; depending on season or day-of-the-week.

AMS-DAR-JRO (B767)
AMS-DXB (B777)
AMS-DEL (B777)
AMS-SFO (B767/B777)
AMS-LOS (B777)
AMS-ACC (A330)
AMS-YUL (B767)
AMS-YVR (B767)
AMS-NBO (B777)
AMS-CAI (B777)

The following destinations are only operated with the MD11:

AMS-HYD
AMS-AUA
AMS-BON-LIM
AMS-BON-GYE-UIO

KL use to fly AMS-OPO-LIS-AMS with the MD11 upto a few years ago. Unfortunately this circle route doesn't exist anymore. AMS-OPO is now operated in codeshare with NI F100. AMS-LIS is a B737 (300/400/800 or 900)

Other routes with the MD11 were to KHI, NGO and Sapporo, but those routes are ceased. Occasionally AMS-ORD is flown with the MD and SXM used to have a dedicated MD11 service for a while.

Cool. Thanks for the quick replies!! I'm trying to organise a trip on the MD-11. I've looked at the Varig flight from CDG-AMS which I can afford but for some reason I can't figure out how to book the flights thru Varig because of the fact I live in Ireland... I reckon I'll have to get a friend of mine on the continent to book it for me!

Just like to add that KLM operates the AMS-YVR service with an MD-11 in the summer.  Smile

So far I've flown on:
PH-KCA
PH-KCB
PH-KCC
PH-KCD
PH-KCF
all numerous times on the YVR-AMS route.

You might be able to book your RG flight through www.vliegtarieven.nl however RG is cancelling their CDG-AMS-CDG stretches quite regularly lately !!!

Cheapest, I believe, would be an AMS-SFO trip for you...
don't throw away tomorrow !

Varig also use the MD-11 on LHR-CPH, so you could try that as well..
Last flight: SAW-CPH on H9 on 02/11/09 - Next Flights: 23/12/09 CPH-AAL on QI, 30/12/09 CPH-LHR on SK, 19/01/10 CPH-CDG-
