You've never taken a weather delay at EWR then... Big grin

Actually, other than that, EWR is fine (it isn't a hub for me, though.)

My personal favourite is DL at SLC.

Well if you mean by passenger view point well NW at DTW would be the best IMO. Others best for pax

How is CO at IAH?

Best for airlines.

Now that the Skylink has been opened, I'd say AA at DFW. Many of the hubs for other airlines often experience weather delays (DL at ATL, AA and UA at ORD, MSP for NW, EWR for CO etc...) so from what I have experienced, rarely are any delays at DFW a result of weather in Dallas, but rather weather in the origin city, or a long taxi to the gate (DFW's fatal flaw in my opinion). Many people complain about the long walks between gates, and while I'd tend to agree, especially now that the Skylink is open, and there are only two stations per terminal, there are two entrances several gates apart, so rarely is the walk to the Skylink more than 4-5 gates.

From my point of view (I traveled and connected in EWR, ATL, MIA, JFK, IAH, ORD and DTW), the absolute best is CO in IAH!!! Extremely smooth connection, great people in immigration, baggages arrived quickly and planes left on time.

Ease of connections in order, based on where i've been...

DTW NW (by train or tunnel, a stunning terminal with easy connections)

DFW AA (the skylink and international terminal have made DFW a world class airport)

MEM NW (small, unspectacular, super-easy connections, unique concessions)

SLC DL (airy, open, good concessions, easy connections)

The worst?

IAD ugly, small, old, dank, fragmented, ... its the most g@d awful clusterf@ck excuse for an airport I've ever seen. Connections there are horrible. Its seems that when you end up with a 20 min connection due to UA's incompetence, the bus taking you to G has to wait 10 minutes while some random 747 sits on the tarmac in your way. The UA staff there is also subpar in my opinion.

I've heard CVG is the best airport in the US to connect from Int'l to Domestic and vice versa, do you agree?

I havn't been to CVG yet, always manage to go to ATL or SJC on DL  Smile

That may be, but try connecting domestic on to domestic. EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME I've flown thru CVG (about 10 now) I've missed a connection. Either I make the connection (barely) in CVG then miss at the next stop, or I miss the connection in CVG. Very irritating. I avoid CVG like the friggin plague...

I love connecting in CVG.

Have done it int'l to domestic and domestic to domestic.Great experiences each times.

Last month I had 40 mins between two flights and arrived at the connecting gate with plenty of time.

For me, I have always liked DTW. However, because I am a Seattlite, SEA takes the cake. Great new "A" terminal and easy connections between terminals. Also they have cleaned up the trains and added a nice court to eat in the center of everything. Wish they would add more international flights, though.

When US had a hub at PIT that was the greatest. Next to PIT I would say DTW or CVG

I've flown to all of DL's hubs, other than JFK, and have to say CVG is the nicest place to connnect. Their B terminal is very nice. It is extremely spacious. I had to go to the connection terminal, and it wasn't that bad at all. The connection terminal is very nice. They have great places to eat even there.

Recently, DFW has become hella easy to get around due to the new airport train that came online a few months ago. I remember back in '97 when I first started using the airport that it was very difficult to get from terminal to terminal. AA had their own dedicated TRAAIN system, located behind security, that took passengers to between Terminals A and C to the AA gates only. If a passenger came in on AA and connected to a DL flight, they would have to exit security, make their way down to the airport train and find the correct "color line" that would take them to their terminal and gates. Back then, you really did need an hour or more to make your way around. That system was so old, constantly breaking down and very slow when it did work. When the system did break down, you would have to scramble to find an airport bus and hope that you would make it to your terminal in time. Just a complete mess. Today, with the new train and new tracks, the connection times have sharply dropped. The whole system is now behind security connecting all airlines and terminals. And with the tracks being elevated, it offers some truely excellent views of the entire airport.

For easy connections, CO @ CLE.
For the terminals, a tie between DL @ ATL and NW @ DTW.
For spotting, JFK (both DL and B6 have hubs here).

I have actually found three western U.S. airports to be very easy and user friendly to the outsider to use: SLC, DEN, and PHX.

SLC was easy to navigate, and afforded some absolutely SPECTACULAR views of the Utah mountains. I had one hour and easily made my way from the east wing to the commuter wing.

DEN to me is a beautiful airport - light-years ahead of Stapleton. Designed with expansion and weather in mind, it has always been a pleasure to change planes at.

PHX is an extraordinarily simple concept - four fingers (on the north side) of relatively short length. My elderly father and I were able to make a tight connection from one side of the airport to the other without breaking a sweat, including a side trip to the restroom. PHX also has great people assisting in passenger transfers.

My two cents.

I don't want to be biased or partial to my airline but I am going to be, NW at DTW is probably one of the best I've been to. Very airy, well lit, lots of information screens, the TRAM, and overall a nice experience and of course the water fountain exhibit thing.

CVG is another awesome hub for DL very open not so crowded (of all the times I've been there) Clean and calm.

I give US @ CLT some points. I have never had any problems there. As someone mentioned when they were at PIT it was great too.

I am gonna be checking out AA @ DFW next week. Lets see how it fares.

DTW is by far the best!!! No comparison except maybe Denver, although DEN has a more provinicial feel. Not really the caliber of an international airport, but great american airport for americans. EWR is good for it's age, but DTW services people from both asia and europe, and I think in terms of how american airports are set up with customs, DTW surpasses other airports in terms of ease for connecting passengers on SKYTEAM.
