Best Economy Seats On AA777 Post Mrtc

Mon Dec 05, 2005 8:10 pm

I'm travelling on an AA 777 from LHR to ORD in economy next May and was wondering where the best seats are now that More Room Throughout Coach is a thing of the past?

I usually go for 37A which has always given me plenty of leg room and a good window seat.

Due to my height, leg room is my main priority. Unfortunately I cannot afford an upgrade so I'm stuck with economy

Many thanks for any advice you can give me,
Stu.

I think they've updated the AA pages to account for LRTC.

From a trip report I recently read seems that Rows 21-27 maybe the best.

By next month, AA should finish reconfiguring the 777s to feature LRTC, thus completing the fleet-wide transformation. I have no problem with the reduced seat pitch on the domestic fleet, but without “more room” on the international fleet, AA really needs to find some other way of differentiating its “flagship” Y product. The good news is that rows 21-27 on the 777 (the forward Y cabin) should retain the 33” pitch, as there simply isn’t room to squeeze in another row without reconfiguring J class (which they expanded not long ago). The aft Y section, however, now features the industry standard 31-32” seat pitch. So, try to get the forward section, if not an exit row.

Seatguru doesn't show rows 21-27 as being any better but may be worth selecting thoses rows.

The best seats used to be 31A/31J. Exit row window with tons of leg room.
I just flew the AA 777 last week with the new configuration and those seats DONT HAVE A WINDOW anymore. They moved all the seats forward and 31A doesn't have a window and less leg room than before, although better leg room than the other seats of course. To look out the window, you have to turn your head back to see out of the window from the seat behind you.
If legroom is a priority, those seats are still the best in coach.

31A was my favorite on the AA B777. It's very sad they screwed it up. Crap. But thanks for the info, as I didn't know about this...
