Best Airline In North America 2005

Thu Dec 15, 2005 6:22 am

As you know the year 2005 is coming to an end. With 3 weeks left of the year I was wondering what North American airtravellers think.

What in your opinion do you think to have been the Number 1 Airline in North America during the year 2005?

This should be a fun one to see!!!

thanks

Well I have had really good and really crappy experiences with all airlines, but in my opinion the best is United especially when flying in F or J.

just look at my signature....:D

United and Southwest, never had bad flights with them.
Ok, wait for the RJ to pass, cleared to push tail south Mike, and you're cleared to spin #2 in the push.

Delta and SWA. Delta big thing that keeps me coming back is when I have problems they always take care of me very well. SWA is great for the occasional lost cost trip.

I'd have to say US. The few UA flights I've flown have only been bearable because of channel 9.

I will, as usual, go with United. They have the best frequent flier program (at least for the higher levels), Economy Plus, a pretty good domestic first class, a nice fleet, a good international product, in a good alliance, and a great route system. Good enough for me!

CO without a doubt.......mealtime you get something tiny in coach...first is great....biz first even better! Automation on flight deck second only Alaska, clean new aircraft and may even post a tiny profit.

Sorry, I'm gonna go patriotic here and vote for AC. Had some great flights with them in the last year both long haul and short haul this year and they have really improved most aspects of their services.

AS was average
UN was below average
DL was way below average
NW was pleasently above average.

I've flown CO, UA, AS and NW this year - all in F.

CO has my vote hands down . . . . UA is running a close second. AS and NW have a very, very long way to go before they'll be able to compete with either CO or UA again. NW current domestic F product is little more than Y with a wider seat. AS is but a shadow of what it once was, but I do see light at the end of their tunnel.

I was pleased with NW service. Maybe I'm skewed because I fly NW more frequently than other airlines, but over the last year when I've flown with them, the FA's have been more than helpful, and in terms of passenger ease and convenience, no airline can match what NW has in Detroit? Doesn't that count towards the overall quality of an airline? Sure inflight is important, but many times, more time is spent in the terminal than in the plane. NW offers a very good international product in my opinion, even for economy, so I think internationally, NW surpasses many other airlines. Domestically, I see where there could be improvement.

NW in my opinion, surpasses Delta overseas in terms of passenger confort and quality. I have found it much easier flying with NW than on DL or US for that matter as well. NW offers a modern fleet when not flying to NRT. Service on board the A330's is comparable to that of the new airfrance fleet of transatlantic service. I'd rather have a better international flight than domestic. When you're spending 8-10 hours in the sky, being comfortable, enterntained and calm is much more important than as compared to a short domestic flight which might not offer much or anything at all. Also, when flying NW to europe and you know that you have to make a connection, I'm rest assured that I'm arriving to AMS rather than FRA or CDG or LHR. I don't have to worry whether my flight is a little bit late, or that my next flight is gate A1 when I'm arriving at E5. CDG, FRA, this is not the case, especially when in Paris. If you're flight is even on time and your connection is tight, good luck getting the ground crew to help you out. I speak french fluently, albeit with an accent, and yet they still manage to not be friendly nor helpful. Again, as in my earlier post, I feel that the environment at each end of your flight, or right in the middle (i.e. terminals) are an important aspect to the quality of an airline.

For the USA, I would say F9 is #1 and CO is #2. F9 (as far as I know), has done well financially, and they should be commended for their work during the hurricane season. Plus, you can't go wrong with all the wonderful wildlife pictures on their tails. I have had a few flights on CO this year, and every time they have exceeded my expectations.
For Canada, C6 comes in first with WS second. I had three flights on C6 this year, and every time they have been superb. For WS, service is excellent but their ethics should be questioned (espionage).
Overall top 3:
