Probrably QF. I travelled them in 2001 on one of their 743's SYD-NRT, it was pretty shocking. There wasn't alot of legroom and the seats hardly reclined at all  Sad

Probably Ryanair. Amenities such as reclining seats, window shades, seat back pockets, etc aren't really standard. Not to mention that you have to pay for refreshments and get crammed among 189 people on a 738 with miserable seat pitch.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I love Spain but IB.... That's a different story in Y. Nevertheless, I can't complain against IB C product.

I nominate TS. 3x3x3 configuration in an A332 makes for a very long flight...

I truthfull would say that I do not think that any economy class on any airline is good... But.. the worst that I have ever flown on would of been 5G.
I am only 6ft and I was cramped up on every skyservice flight that i was ever on. my legs felt numb by the end of that flight. lol.

Thanks

Even worst than IB: AA.

I think that most times LCC will have a worst econ. Seat then regular carriers. It should be that way, that is why I pay less to travel with them. There are always exceptions though.
The only LCC I have ever been on is WN and the cabin was not half bad. My worst experience in an econ. class was with an AA 767. It was a 7 hour trip from London to Boston w/ no PTV's or nothing. The thing is though, my leg was broken so I had to keep it straight (and it hurt like hell) and the flight was bumpy. so my opinion is a bit bias.

Not true, at least with US LCCs - I've flown WN, B6, and FL and the economy class experience is as good as, or (in the case of B6) better than anything on US network carriers.

Haven't flown F9 or NK, but my understanding is they are generally in the same league as WN/B6/FL, and F9 has the TV too.

Euro LCCs are an entirely different class, though...

Worst economy class I've ever flown in was QF's "Cityflyer" BNE-SYD - that was the tighest seat pitch I've ever seen, and the FAs were brusque and rude. The standard QF domestic economy class flights I had (SYD-AYQ, AYQ-CNS) and QantasLink (PPP-BNE) were comparable to US domestic coach, but with a little better cabin service than most US network carriers - FAs were all very nice. (Nice to order a cup of tea and actually get brewed tea instead of hot water and a cheap, nasty tea bag.)

I don't like Lufthansa's economy product, just terrible on long haul. On short haul it's not different than any other airline!

What's all the fuss about IB all the time?  confused

I flew IB several times between AMS and Spain and never had any problems. Is it because there are so many negative things about IB on A.net that people have an opinion about them even before they started their trip with IB?

All airlines have their good and bad days....I fly KL often and sometimes their really good, sometimes just mediocre and I've had also very, very bad experiences with them. But I keep on flying...it's a people's business...

IMO there's no such thing as "Worst or best airline". It's all about your personal preferences and needs.

btw I am in no way involved in IB, and have no benefit of "defending" IB.  white

I agree with that, but only aboard the older A340s. The problem is that the IB service is veeery bad on Y...

American's 757 and A300 (with no MRTC) are pretty bad too.

Ugh I know, I just flew BOS-MAN on their 752.....needless to say, I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER fly American again. Not only was the econ. the worst I have ever hand, but the overall experience on BOTH flights (bos-man and man-bos) were, by far, the worst I have ever experienced in my entire life. I know its harsh, but its fair to say that I officially HATE American airlines and I will go out of my way to avoid everything involving their airline.

Whew, glad to get that off my chest!

Ryanair by far takes the cake. Also, I remember not too long ago being cramped into a 752 for ORD-SEA. Pretty sure it was AA, but they seem to be making a fuss as of late that they have more legroom. Go figure.

Emitares are a bit naughty - they squash 10 abreast into their long haul B777 whereas most other operators are 9 abreast.

I know the trip on the 757 in Y might have been awful, but if you have a chance, get the 777, don´t miss this oportunity. It´s a great aircraft, and American keeps very comfortable seats in Y. If you have the patience, read this trip report I´ve written about it: http://www.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/65915

Respectable opinion as all in this thread. I simply don't agree with you. Compare AA or IB with LH is like a comparison between a Ford and a Seat with a Mercedes Benz.

Obviously, the question can only be asked of the airlines that you have flown with, as I doubt if anyone could claim they have flown with more than 20% of the world's airlines. I am sure that economy class in a major airline like SQ or CX could not be compared with economy class in MIAT or TACA.

Of the airlines that I have flown with, the worst economy by a mile would be VS. Uncomfortable seat (the IFE box seems to take up most leg room), rude, unhelpful and unprofessional cabin crew, restricted bar choice (only one brand of beer, Virgin Cola and Virgin mixers), constant plugging of Virgin products and of Bearded himself, inedible meals, filthy toilets that the cabin crew refused to service or replenish the supply of paper and soap, and non-existent service on the ground. VS might offer a good Upper Class but, apart from the IFE, their economy class is appallingly bad and geared for people who think a meal at MacDonalds is a gastronomic experience.

I agree! My friend was on a flight in the summer and said that she was very uncomfortable, and the 777 was cramped. I have also experienced this 10 abreast seating.
I still think Ryanair are the worst.

My worst experiences have been on TACA. Overpriced tickets, food-on-purchase only, worn aircrafts, bad service, etc.
I had also a pretty bad experience in AA. Awfull.
