World's Biggest Aircraft Maker

Sat Dec 31, 2005 3:40 am

I saw this line ('world's largest aircraft manufacturer') in another thread on a.net and started wondering.....

50 years from now, when people look back to the start of the century, who will spring to mind - A or B? Take a look at the lines below and let me know what you think (without turning it into a A v/s B war)...

World's LARGEST AIRCRAFT manufacturer - (which would be A)

World's largest AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER (which of late, is B)

Keep in mind that just 36 years down the line, everyone remembers Neil Armstrong, but quite a few cannot recall the name of Edwin Aldrin, although both hit the moon together...

I think it's a perfect way to show that you can take words even though they're quite the same, and make them mean anything!

But then, by "Largest Aircraft" Manufacturer, we all know what you mean, but Largest "Aircraft Manufacturer"? What makes it the largest? The turnover? The deliveries? The orders? In fact I would say deliveries, that's how it's counted in usual companies (considering a usual company doesn't have several years delivery time). That would make it A. If it's on orders, it'd be B, if it's turnover, well, we're going to have to wait and check the Annual Reports of 2005 Big grin

Good luck. Happy 2006!

I'll go for C.

Ever tried to count the number of Cessna's there are built through the years?

They are passenger aircraft and a couple of types are built in huge numbers.

Cheers and a happy New Year.
