Comair - Your Experience(s)?

Sat Jan 07, 2006 7:40 am

Does anyone have experience with them? I flew them twice this past holiday season. JFK > BOS and then return trip BOS >JFK. What a friendly group of people!  Smile

On the JFK > BOS bit, the pilot came out before taxi and said "Welcome to flight xxx to Key West" when everyone looked up in surprise he said "Wanna go?" with a grin. The flight was only 35 minutes, which as cool since it usually take 45 minutes or more. He also came onto the radio and told us about what to see while flying over Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Right before T/O he also said "We know that you choose from a number of bankrupt airlines, but thanks for choosing Comair."

On the BOS > JFK bit, I had my first bout with vortex turbulence .. which sucked. As we left the plane I told the pilot "fun flight" and he laughed and said "Sorry, we had a big plane ahead of us. A 7-4."

Usually I fly on another small airline between BOS & JFK (which I won't mention by name since I dislike them) but this was a refreshing change. Flying on JAL, and living in Boston, I am at the mercy of JAL when it comes to which airline will take me home.

Isn't comair also in South Africa and operating under BA franchise?

There are two different Comairs: the BA franchise & the DL Connection carrier.

I had a very enjoyable experience flying Comair JFK-SDF last October. The first thing I noticed was that when we arrived at the runway for departure, the captain came on and stated we were number 2 for departure on 31L. That was the first time I had ever heard the pilot specify to the passengers what runway we were using. He did the same on approach into SDF, announcing clearance to land 35R. I don't know if the rest of the pax actually cared, but I thought it was pretty cool.

The F/A on the flight was the absolute greatest, and was also generous. When she came down the aisle passing out snacks, I took one, and she said "go ahead, grab another". She made two more passes during the duration of the flight, and I ended up with 6 snacks and two cans of soda. To add to the fun, she found out one of the pax on board was celebrating a birthday. She asked a pax who just happened to have a video camera out to capture on film ALL of the pax on board singing "Happy Birthday". It really made the birthday girls day to say the least, and I thought it was really nice as well.

If Comair has any more F/A's like this one, then I would love to fly them again

Yeah Comair is a pretty good RJ carrier. I have always had good luck and service with them. Along with ASA, Comair is the best connection carrier I have ever flown.

I did YYZ-CVG-IND-CVG-YYZ with Comair. All 4 flights were nice and enjoyable. The CRJ is a nice jet, although I remember that the flights were packed because it was a holiday weekend (I think Memorial Day or so). The crew was friendly and there was nothing to complain about the flights. The only thing I very much disliked was their terminal in CVG! It was like an ant hill, buzzing with far too many people for the small space. Hardly any windows and/or views at all. Overcrowded shops and cafes, and no quiet space whatsoever. Maybe it was just because of the holiday weekend, but the other airports (YYZ and IND) during the same days were much more enjoyable. Especially at IND I had nice views from the lounge area...
In short: Comair is a great commuter airline, and I'd take them any time!

Cheers

One of the best "express" terminals around. WAY WAY WAY better than UAX's terminal @ ORD for example.

Here is one of my trips on OH:
TOL-SRQ-TOL Jan 4th And Jan 11th (by XJRamper Jan 11 2005 in Trip Reports)#ID53425

But, aside from that, I am a stong believer in how well organized and professional OH really is. I haven't flown on OH because money has been tight and I really need more room than regular coach. Hope this help!

I'm flying Comair next week to DCA. I haven't flown with them in a few years & back then they were OK. Don't really remember a whole lot about the flights with them. I'll post in here with what I think after this trip.

Flew Comair ATL-MSP back in december 2005. Good flight on the CRJ-700 (way nicer than its smaller sister -200). Crew were nice. All in all a very standard flight. Offcourse they could have had a bit more variety in their snack basket. (granola-bars, and crackers) But..

Flew ASA CRJ-200 earlier that day, MYR-ATL and must say that the comair crew was a lot "happier".

But in the end i have to say that CoEx is the best regional out there.
(not that I have flown them all though)

BTW: Even though I have lived here in the US for about a year now, I don't realy grab the big dela about the granola bars. Noting special if you ask me.

I have always enjoyed Comair. I like their CVG hub. Easy to get around in, and never really over crowded. I really like their service in flight. They seem to take good care of their customers. DL could really learn a thing or two or three... from them!

Flew them the other day CMH-DCA. Service was pretty good. We got our choice of Lance crackers, peanuts & one other thing as a snack, followed by drinks & then we got mints at the end of the flight. The F/A was really nice, too. They did a good job overall, I'd fly with them again.

The only thing I didn't like was the noise from the air rushing past the 1R door. I was in seat 1A & the noise was borderline deafening, especially after takeoff. I wouldn't recommend seats 1A or B on a CRJ-100/200.

I had that happen on both OH and DL last week on my JAX-CVG-BOS run. I guess I'll see tomorrow if the DL pilots I fly with also annouce runways when I return via ATL.

I have two DL Connection flights under my belt now--one is ASA and the most recent was Comair (this Christmas), both to/from FWA, my hometown airport.

In 2003, I flew DL FWA-CVG-DCA return (to a craniofacial family retreat in DC). The FWA-CVG and CVG-FWA legs were both ASA flights on the Do328Jet, a beautiful little plane!

My most recent trip, DL LGW-CVG-FWA return (Dec. 19, 2005-Jan. 8, 2006), was another great trip! The CVG-FWA and FWA-CVG legs were both Comair flights, on the CRJ-200. The CVG-FWA flight was a festive one, and the single F/A on board was jovial and merry--possibly due to the coming holiday!
She wished every one of us a great holiday. It was only half-full. There were even peanuts served on board!

I might just try DL again in the future, considering the great trips I had with them! (I just hope I run into the same sweet F/A I met on the DL LGW-CVG and CVG-LGW legs this Christmas again on a future DL flight!)

I only flew ComAir once last year (DL Express) from MCI to ATL. It was an RJ flight, so not really a lot to say on that note. The F/A was pretty friendly though, along with all the other ComAir flight attendants I've ran into over the years.

I'd like to go back to Boston again this Summer. If I can, I hope I can swing a flight with Comair again. MUCH better than American Eagle.
