Places From Your Home Airport Served By 2+ Airline

Sun Jan 08, 2006 11:55 am

Sorry about the title.. hard to squish it all in the minimal space and still have it try to make the least bit of sence.. anyways..

What destinations from your home airport (or airports if there are multiple airports nearby your home) are served by more than one airline?

I'll start:

Atlanta / ATL - Served by both AirTran and Delta.

Chicago / ORD - Served by both United Express and American Eagle.

..What about you guys???

Do you mean routes or individual airlines?? - MEL is served by many airlines (QF, BA, EK, MH, GA, UA, SQ, CX, NZ, JQ, DJ, Can't remember the code for Mauritious off hand, or Air Pacific...)

I meant what routes out of your home airport does more than one airline fly. Example: at my airport, Delta AND Airtran fly JAX-ATL.. two airlines fly the same route ex-my home airport (JAX). Hope that cleared things up!

Oh yeah, Heaps of Airlines do that here, Fierce competition- QF and DJ do alot of identical Domestic Sectors... I think the worst is the MEL-AKL run, UA, DJ (I think) QF, NZ, EK, erm... I think JQ is onboard now too

Wait, I forgot LAS-IAD.

And in case you were wondering, LAS-FAT is served by HP and UAx, and LAS-TUL is served by Omni Air and Champion Air, if I'm not mistaken.

Too many at CPH to list here. Pretty much every capital in western Europe, and quite a few others, are served by both SAS and the respective national/private carriers. The most notable exeption in "western Europe" would would be KEF, which is served by Icelandair.

On the long haul side, CPH-BKK-SIN is operated by SK, while TG operates CPH-BKK, and SQ flies SIN-CPH. Soon, SK's CPH-EWR route will see some competition, when CO starts up on the route in May.

Who? HP only did temp nonstop service which lasted about three months this summer, not sure if it's gonna happen again, and last time I checked, AS doesn't do nonstop LAS-ANC. My understanding was that AS only flew to PDX, SEA, and YVR from LAS.

And the fact that ANC is very forgotten makes it that much more of a desireable place to visit. I'd like to go up there this summer.

I hope it's non-stop, I have tickets that say so for 3/24 . . .

Flight: Alaska Airlines flight 852 ( non-stop )
Depart: Anchorage, AK (ANC) - Terminal Information Unavailable
Fri, Mar 24 at 12:15 AM
Arrive: Las Vegas, NV (LAS) - MAIN TERMINAL
Fri, Mar 24 at 06:14 AM

AS has been running ANC-LAS non-stop for quite a while, competing directly with US/HP.

Quoting HPLASOps (Reply 13):
HP only did temp nonstop service which lasted about three months this summer, not sure if it's gonna happen again

And right off the web-site (Orbitz.com):

HP, ANC-LAS non-stop:

Leave
Fri, Mar 24 America West 142
Depart: 4:10pm
Arrive: 10:15pm Anchorage, AK (ANC)
Las Vegas, NV (LAS)

Non-stop 5hr 5min Airbus A319

Return
Tue, Mar 28 America West 141
Depart: 11:15am
Arrive: 3:25pm Las Vegas, NV (LAS)
Anchorage, AK (ANC)

Non-stop 5hr 10min Airbus A319

And HP.com, dates picked at random:

4:10 PM 08 Jun 2006 Anchorage, AK 10:15 PM 08 Jun 2006
Las Vegas, NV Flight: 142 Class: Coach Airbus A319
On-Time: Meal: Buy on Board
Travel Time: 5 h 5 m

11:15 AM 09 Jul 2006 Las Vegas, NV 3:25 PM 09 Jul 2006
Anchorage, AK Flight: 141 Class: Coach Airbus A319
On-Time: Meal: Buy on Board
Travel Time: 5 h 10 m

HP has been running ANC-LAS for a long time . . . competing with AS of course.

I'd have taken the HP flight to LAS in March for the meet had it arrived at a reasonable time - the schedule simply sucks. I'd have taken HP to get my US miles. As it is I'm on AS, so I can get my CO miles . . . I win either way.

SPeaking of which - there's an A-Net meet in LAS 24-27 March . . . . thread in Non-Av . . . give it a look . . . join in . . . Logan is leading the charge which probably means we'll all need bail money.  biggrin

I stand corrected.

HP's service must be seasonal, only operating in the spring/summertime, glad to see that's the case and that it wasn't just a failed experiment.

Is AS's also seasonal? I swear I had never seen a direct flight listed for ANC on AS until what you just brought up.

Thanks for correcting me and I hope I can make it up there this summer.

note above, america west service is seasonal las-anc, resumes march 2. i guess using prc is a bust, so i'll go back to my home airport where i grew up and worked for swa.

BURBANK:

LAS - HP, WN
PHX - HP, WN

and that's about it, seems like bur goes through its highs and lows pretty quickly. lost delta service to atlanta this month, last year lost aloha service completely with hnl, ogg, rno, smf, las all at certain times having flights. wn dropped their short lived mdw sat service, but added oak, las and phx flights. hp just dropped an express and mainline flight to las leaving only the late express rotation. aa just dropped a dfw rotation. on a high note, jetblue is rumored to be looking at bur and adding two gates, A7 and A9 to their ops to ramp up west coast ops since lgb is maxxed out, so let's see bout that.
