Airport Logos

Sun Jan 29, 2006 11:21 am

I don't think we covered this one but here goes: What are your favorite airport's aircraft logos. Here are some of mine. For now I'm limiting it to the cities we serve. FL

PHL:
current logo (since mid-2004)

previous logo (1993-2004)

The previous 2 PHL logos (pre-1993) are not pictured (No Yahoo nor Google images available)
From 1990-1993, PHL's logo consisted of the letters P H L obliqued with a plane attached to the horizontal piece of the letter L.

From the mid-80s to 1990, PHL's logo featured a Liberty Bell with a plane pointing up inside it.

BAA logo is the same for all BAA airports, I quite like it...

The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only

Quoting Zippyjet (Thread starter):
What are your favorite airport's aircraft logos.

If you exclude the "aircraft" bit, which others have done ...I quite like the BHX logo:

When in Spain, the AENA logo is also nice:

Unfortunately most of the airport logo's are very boring and disappointing. To me an airport logo should emphasize it's name or at least expressing something of the city/country of origin, expressing air transport, connection, crossing point, travel, speed, reliability and class or just something of architecture of the airport itself. This is an interesting field for graphic designers like me because I think there is still a lot work to do in 'airport-land'. Even in my own country The Netherlands the airport logo's are not of a very high design quality standard. Often airport logo's are outdated because airport do not change that many times like airlines do. Have a look at this direct link and you will see many airport logo's (free downloadable in vector format): http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/sear...0&page=1&brand_id=138318&mtype=25.

I picked some of them which are quite nice to see: Luton Airport, Sydney Airport, Hannover Airport and Norwich International. Definately there will be other great airport logos left which I did not mention here.

OwlEye

Hi

I'd rather say this is the logo of our local airport, or at least the operating company:

The "pryamid" design matches the glass pyramid on the top of the terminal building.
