Heathrow

Wed Feb 01, 2006 3:08 am

Hey guys!
Not really sure which forum to post this in but here goes. In April I'm travelling alone from Manchester (EGCC) to Heathrow. It will be my first flight alone as i'm only 16. I was planning a day trip to the Fly! London Airshow at Earl's Court. I just wanted to know how easy/hard it is to get to Earl's Court from LHR by tube train. Any advice would be appreciated greatly, I have looked at Heathrows website but I'd like a personal opinion about travelling via tube train.

Thanks

Arrival into LHR.
Head straight to the tube, and it will take you straight to Earls Court station.
Expect it to take an hour to an hour half.
No line changes, and a child 1 day travelcard is £2.
The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only

Yeah thats the best way. As soon as you step out of Arrivals, head towards "Tube" or "rail connections" something like that. It will take you into the central of Heathrow. Then get your ticket and get on the train! The only Tube line is the Piccadilly line from Heathrow and its direct to Earls Court.

Have fun!

it's really easy just remember there is also the district line at earls court when you come back so make sure you head for the right line.....obvious I know but unless you are used to it...as I found out with the trams round manchester when I came up there!

Does that cover him for all zones or just zones 1 & 2? Just a thought since LHR sits out in Zone 6 and Earl's Court sits right on the border of Zones 1 & 2. While the difference for one day shouldn't be too much I bet he'll have to pay more than 2 Pounds (sorry, I don't have the symbol on my darn American keyboard.)

Even if you had to transfer between lines the Tube is marked quite well for the users. If a dumb American like me can get around with no problem you should be just fine.

errm he is 16 he would have to buy an adult one and if that is the only place he is going it will most likely bebest to ask the cheapest way.

I would advise you to go to the window selling tickets and say you are only going to earls court (which isnt in the central zones) (and if thats the only place you are going) and ask is it cheaper to get a return or a travelcard?

Sorry to bring you bad news...but once your 16, you have to pay adult fees!  Sad

Because you're going to Earls Court, which is on both zones 1 AND 2, you can't get a single from zone 6 (Heathrow) to zone 2. It will have to be from 6-1 in order to cover all the zones. Don't worry if you don't understand it all, it really is confusing!!

The adult travelcard is £6.30 off peak . I think the travelcard is the best option, its a lot easier. A single to Earls court will be £4!!!!!!!!

All this information including the fares is at : http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/

Good luck, you'll be fine!
