ArkeFly, How Are They?

Since I am planning a trip to the Bahama's that most likely will involve a flight with either ArkeFly or MartinAir, I was wondering from people with experiece with them how they found the experience. I'm not very keen on MartinAir, so I am kind of weary of flying with ArkeFly. What is their cross-section in economy? 2-4-2 or 2-3-2? Thanks in advance for any responses.

The one they have kindly lent to BMI is 2-4-2

It isn't - both their economy and premium economy cabins are 2-3-2.

We wet leased an aircraft from Arkefly when they were still called HollandExel in early 2005. The technical reliability of the aircraft (PH-AHQ) was poor - with several technical delays over a contract that only lasted a couple of weeks. Passenger reaction to the aircraft was very poor, despite it being in a more comfortable layout than our own 767s at the time. Onboard the crew were completely disinterested and onboard service was disorganised and very slow - meal services took hours and we had reports of bar services involving passsenges being forced to que in the aisles for drinks as opposed to taking the carts down the aisle to the passengers in the normal way.

Hmmm, doesn't sound too promising. Maybe i'll fly CO or BA instead. I'd prefer CO being from SkyTeam, but it seems on the inbound flight I have to fly via EWR and FLL and on a Beech 1900 to Nassau. That's not really ideal. (not so much the 1900 as the 2 stops). Anybody have a better idea?

If I were alone, no problem. But as I'm flying with my wife and 6-year old daughter, that's a different story. I have flown AMS-CDG-CAY-PBM-CAY-CDG-AMS, and that was no problem. I got to fly on a 763, a320 and DC9-50. But I was alone.
