What Is Your Favorite USAir/USAirways Paint Scheme

Mon Feb 13, 2006 4:37 am

As the topic suggests, what is your favorite USAir/USAiarways paint scheme and why! Given that the USAir group has had some many paint jobs over the years, I think its time we decide which one was the best! Lets keep is simple here, it doesn't really matter to me which scheme looks best a given airplane, I am interested in what best overall scheme would be!

Here are some pics to choose from. If I left one out, be sure to add it, but the plane has to say USAir/USAirways on it!

I am a fan of the late 90s/early 2000 scheme. I just looked the most professional.
If it was said by us, then it must be true.

I like the last one also. and honestly I don't think any body likes the 1,2, and maybe even 3d scheme!

Dark black all the way. I think it's pretty unique.

The blue top was the best since it gave them a truely business travel-oriented appearance. The new style has too much white and makes it look like a silly LCC.

I like their new one best. Even though it's mostly white, it looks majestic in a sort of way. Also, as someone mentioned, white and navy blue goes very well together. It also represents the colors of the United States in a good way.

I like the first one for some reason. I also think that the dark blue US Airways scheme was very professional/sophisticated. I like the most recent one as well, as I find it to be quite modern and nice to look at.

There's such thing as dark black?!? Big grin

I think Airbii were black, and Boeings were navy, but I'm not exactly sure.

I'd go with 2, 3, and 4. In order, 4, 2/3 very close.
I convert Jet A and 100LL into noise.

Hi

For some strange reason I prefer the 3rd one, even tho most of the planes seen in it had their paint peeling off!!

I like the latest one.... plus I'm sure it makes the aircraft a little more comfortable inside on those hot days from the previous scheme.

US Airways have had always nice colourschemes, each in its own period. I like US Airways today's aircraft paint design very much. Though I very dislike the front part of the belly: the belly striping at the front makes a totally needless curve downwards. Maybe they did it because leaving the nosecone in white is easier for replacing it after a collision with ground vehicles or birds. This curve damages the total livery. The straight stripes in the flag-logo symbol and the tailfin tip justify a simular straight fuselage striping and not a curved one like now.

From an optical point of view the white between the red belly stripe and the blue belly should have been a bit thinner as the white upper fuselage demands already a lot of attention. In relation to the white stripe in the tailfin tip, the white fuselage stripe is too fat (again: from an optical point of view).

The Piedmont paint! What a loss that was.

#2 & 3 are my favorites. #4's next in line. Never really liked the 1980s paint scheme.

My favorite is the new post-merger scheme, but I also like the first one for some reason, in a retro sense.

Gee whiz, LCC isn't that their stock market symbol? Aren't they claiming to be the largest LCC in the world?
