The Best Airline To Work For Is.....

Tue Feb 21, 2006 1:33 am

As there is a list published each year for the BEST employers to work for..
I was wondering if we could collate our list of the best airlines to work for..

Nothing definitive, just peoples own opinions.

Theres enough of us on a.net that work for an airline either in the air or on the ground, or at least know someone who does..

So, please post your thoughts on who in your opinion is the BEST airline to work for... based on whatever you feel is most important..

heres some ideas... Job security/staff benefits/airport or aircraft working environment...

My top 3 in no order:

1.JetBlue (job security)
2.Virgin Atlantic (staff benefits)
3.Emirates (Tax free living in Dubai)

feel free to agree/disagree and add your own...

No guarantee on this.

I do like Jetblues benefits on there time off. They combine employees' sick, personal and vacation days into one bank, allowing them to use them as they please.

Based on what? Your statement is very very broad and open w/o any support to it.

High salaries, profit sharing, they have never had an involuntary layoff.

I must say I love working for EZY and considering it is in low cost segment company is really great to work for.
In comaprision with other low cost it is like working for legacy carrier with exception that you get paid more then they do.
Apparently the best paid cabin crew in Europe are: Ryanair (but they treat you as a s**t, easyJet (where they treat you very nice) and then first legacy carrier LH with quite a big salary gap between EZY and LH.
And this is all without social welfare and pension which we do get at EZY.

I would guess WN for the reasons posted above, also, Fortune Magazine ranked them #3 on their site

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/mostadmired/top20/

I'd also submit CO, as I believe they were ranked as one of the top businesses to work for, for a few years running.

I definately vote VS. The salaries may not be the best in the industry, but the benefits are fantastic. And it's generally great fun..

The best airline to work for is... FedEx. Job security, excellent compensation and benefits, a respectful and easygoing working atmosphere...

Most people do not remember FX is indeed an airline, and was incorporated as such from the very beginning. This is different from competitors like UPS or DHL which are express companies who have airplanes (well, DHL kind of owns Astar... but that's another matter)

Precisely. Didn't you notice FX is # 2 in the most admired rank, only after General Electric?.

They say Fedex is a very good company to work for. I've talked to a few managers and workers at Fedex. Fedex has good work ethics, managers get yelled at if they release a plane 1 minute late. Things like that. I'm not sure about F/As, MX, and customer service people but for pilots, the best airline to work for now is WN, Fedex, UPS. Also fractionals like Netjets offer good security and pay. Other airlines such as Jetblue are still young and uncertain as to their operations. Plus the pay at jetblue is pretty low. Airtran is also the same with the pay but they seem more secure then jetblue. Hopefully in the next couple of years I'll be eligable to apply at the majors. I'm still waiting for AA or UA, fingers crossed.

B6 offers no job security with their current hiring practice of not keeping any hourly employee past 5 yrs service. This is a way for them to eliminate 401ks and retirement (pensions).

Correct. I'm not gonna list everything I get hooked up on, cause I enjoy keeping my job, but it's insane the amount of benefits I get. FX has never laid off one employee...ever. Go Fred Smith!
