So...Who Here Has A Pilot License?

Wed Feb 22, 2006 10:35 am

As I will begin my flight training toward a PPL this week, I couldn't help but wonder how many a.netters actually have a PPL, or maybe even something higher! So, how many of us on here fly?

I do not yet have my PPL, however I am currently working in 3-9 hours a week for it (I have 16.8 hours so far). I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do. Best of luck, and clear skies!

I have had my Private since last summer. I don't intend to earn more ratings at least in the near future as it is something that is more for fun than anything else.

I have my PPL. One of these days, I'll go for my instument ticket. The weather in So-Cal is generally too nice to have to worry about filing IFR.

No! Not by a long shot. I'll have completed my PPL by the end of this university year though. At the moment I have 10 hours and have passed four theory exams (Air Law, HP&L, FP&P and Nav) with an average of 95%. I'll be doing my hours building in Florida in June once i've got all my exams out of the way and finished my first year at uni.

Then in September it's off to Cranfield to do my ATPL's and my IR.. Fun!  Wink

When I had the money to start flight training I didn't have time and now that I have the time I do not have the money. Weird how that works...

To all of you that have your PPL or are working on it, did you save all of the estimated funds before starting training or earn it as you went along? I want to go for an intro flight soon... maybe as a jump start to get me motivated to work harder for it but I want to know what I should do about funding.

Formation rating? I assume that's a rating that certifies you to fly formation with other airplanes?

I'm earning as I go along. Some people say it's a bad thing. But I figured if I keep procrastinating and waiting until I have a certain amount of money, it might take ages...and time isn't something I want to waste.

Next rating: Flipping coin between Commercial, and ME. Think Commercial has greater utility, less cost.

ATP multi engine, private privedges only for singles. Never got my commercial rating in a single -- got my Private in a single, then got the multi rating, then did my instrument ride and commercial back to back in a PA-30.

Also have tailwheel endorsement.

Are you kidding? I was already knee-deep in dept from post-graduate school when I decided to get my ticket. At the time, I ran it up on three different credit cards. My wife almost divorced me over it. But, alas, I got to pursue a life-long dream. How many people (outside of this thread) can say they do something that is pure joy, even better than sex -- assuming it's not with a swanky stripper.

I'm only 13 and plan to get all the licences I nedd to fly with QF. Has anyone gotten their licence at a Uni? I would love to be able to go to a Uni as it would probably end up being cheaper, it only a one year course and my school gets a scholarship for that particular one every year.
