A Day To Spare In Florida

Sat Mar 25, 2006 6:13 am

Hi,

I am on vacation in Kissimmee from the 13-27 May, I have already booked a day trip to FLL, on Delta Connection ERJ135/145.

Can anybody else suggest a good day out, anything is fine as long as it involves flying and a good place to spot.

I look forward to your suggestions,

Andy

MIA is one of the best spotting airports in the world. The Holes are great atleast thats what I have heard. I never been actually spotting at MIA but I know many people on here have and they could give you more info. But talk about getting everything at MIA, heavies, commuters, Lots of old Cargo Jets DC-8 DC-10. Carribean and Latin American Airlines. Everything is at MIA. You might even get a AN-12 or DC-3.

I had made a daytrip to Washington D.C. during my vacation around Orlando, FL as I´ve never been to that town before; visited the Smithonian Museum.
Flew US MCO-DCA-MCO with around 9 hours to spend in Washington.

Second daytrip I made was flying into Pensacola, FL. Hired a car and visited the National Museum of Naval Aviation on NAS Pensacola.
Flight was on DL Conn. CRJ MCO - PNS - MCO.

Third daytrip was pure pleasure flying:
TPA - RSW - MIA on CO Express Beech 1900D (I was the only pax for TPA to RSW ...). Checking out Miami Int´l Airport.
Return MIA - TPA on a full AA B738.

An my "considered" list were:
- Flying into Key West EYW
- Flying to the Bahamas (different airlines available to use)
- Opa Locka near Miami from where Chalk´s Air (used to) operate(s) ...

P.S. I´m sure you already are aware of the numerous aviation museums around Orlando and Titusville ?

Hi,

I'm happy to write this message from Orlando. Unfortunately, I have to go tomorrow  Sad

I was also here last year for a two weeks holidays. Here is my advice:

- Visit Fantasy of Flight, http://www.fantasyofflight.com/ It's something like 1 hour from Orlando by car. You can enjoy balloon and biplane flight!

- HT> I have to second your advice regarding Key West. Here some pictures:

You have one with an overview of the airport. The other one is taken minutes before landing in Fort Jefferson.

You also have as stated to visit MIA. Ramp view from the road is amazing, and it seems that there some impressive spotting opportunity.

That said, enjoy your holidays in Florida: there's tons of thinks to do and sea!

Raphael
