Give me the Cradle Seat any day.
The current Club configuration, especially on a BA777 is an absolute mess.
The designer must have been a mad professor and an offspring of Dr Frankenstein.
Apart from the sardine style layout, the actual seats appear to have been designed by some mad engineer's apprentice, with little bits stuck on to the mainframe of the seat.
The table is the most unstable device I've ever experienced, and in over 6 flights, it has slipped out of the narrow slot meaning yet another glass of Champagne on my knees and the floor!
You cannot lay down, let alone sleep on your back, within the confines of the arms of the seat (19½" wide) neither can you actually roll over from one side to another without raising yourself into the sitting position and then turning over. Hardly a good night's rest!
The seats are an absolute mess, designed to squeeze in the maximum amount of passengers with eight abreast in Club World! An absolute Disgrace!
Thankfully on my last flight I was upgraded to First - an absolute blessing! I didn't even use the excellent flat bed as the meal and particularly the wine was absolutely tremendous! My 8 hour flight flashed by as I enjoyed the Chassagne Montrachet 2001, and the most delicious Pichon-Longville Grand Cru '97, with a Warre's Vintage Port to close. I didn't want to get off in London. Some A-netters wax lyrical on whether there are PTVs on board - who needs them?
Hopefully, the new Club World will be an improvement - it can only get better, but I doubt it, and we'll probably still have to put up with the sardine layout, not forgetting the 15K seat (and others!) on a BA777 which has no window. This with the massive dividng fan drawn on the other side is a ghastly claustrophobic experience that I have no wish to repeat.
To summarise, I actually downgraded myself to the excellent, and under-rated World Traveller Plus on one trip because I was seated next to a screaming infant in the last row of Club - row 15 again! UGH!
Believe me, if you're looking for a reasonal ride, take the superior World Traveller Plus!
Per Ardua ad Astra! ........ Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense!
