Layover In LHR...where's A Good Place To Go...

Sun Apr 16, 2006 12:58 pm

I have a five hour layover at LHR in early May. Aside from hanging out in the Club lounge is there something better to do? Any decent places to go watch the planes land and takeoff? Thanks!

Mark

Theres not really a great deal of places to go if you only have 5 hours...

It's not worth going into London in that time, and in order to do any spotting you need to get a car and no stopping is allowed on the roads around the airport.

You could possibly get a taxi to the Heathrow Visitor Centre which has good views over runway 27R/09L, and get a bit of info on the airport! It is a few miles from the terminal and unsure about public transport.

Not visited it myself, to be honest!

HI mark

Was wondering which terminal will you be at?
The visitor centre is a great idea as you have views of the runway and lots of information on heathrow..
easily gettable by a free bus from inside the airport..

If it's a nice day head to The Green Man (pub). It sits at the end of the runway. Sink a few beers and watch the birds fly over.

Ever watched airline!?  laughing

But seriously, just head to one of the Terrace's lounge's and lay in one of their beach chairs. Not worth leaving the airport, to be honest.

Just my $0.02 (CDN)
