Best/Worst Compensation After Complaining

Wed Apr 19, 2006 8:40 am

Hi, to you all...

What was your best and worst compensation after you complaint?

BEST
I booked a daytrip to London from London. To STN from Hamburg with AIR BERLIN for 20$ incl. tax (!!!!!)  Wow! and back to Hamburg on Ryanair. I was than informed by Air Berlin, that they dropped the route from Hamburg. Alternative: late evening flight from Hannover to STN. I refused this offer, claiming, that my flight would arrive nearly at the same the time as my flight back to Hamburg on FR will depart!
Now listen: for my 20$ ticket, AirBerlin offered me a free rail-ticket to Hannover, an up-grade to a higher booking-class one day earlier PLUS a free accomodation in London! WOW  bigthumbsup

WORST
After a bad experience on EMIRATES, claiming they would be one of the best airlines in the world, I wrote a complaint. After several weeks of no-reply I received finally an aswer; stating: "Sorry for the circumstances (no explanations why this trouble happened!). Hope to welcome you soon on one of our flights."  Angry  banghead

So, now its your turn!  hyper

Not personally, but my brother - a rusted-on (go figure...) QF Gold FF was given a - wait for it - A$1,000 MCO (travel voucher) after he wrote in and complained that the IFE system wasn't working (like this is anything unusual on QF...) on a flt. LHR-SIN.

Best
I was due to fly BHX-DXB in August of last year, i arrived at the airport only to find the flight was 3hrs late... I decided to ask why at the EK desk, they said "Sorry Sir the flight is due late into Birmingham due to problems with the aircraft at Dubai, would you like to travel from Manchester insted in J?"

So we received a free limo transfer from BHX to MAN and received a free upgrade to Business Class from MAN. The MAN flight arrived and departed on time, not bad for only asking why the BHX flight was late!

A few years ago, I received A$4000 M C O from QF after complaining about being put in their old 1st class on two sectors SIN-CDG (x 2 pax) and LAX-MEL (just me) of a RTW 1st class ticket despite the fact that they had been taking out full page ads in the newspapers showing what was then their new flat bed 1st class seats. It took me weeks and endless letters but they finally caved in when I sent them a copy of the ad (from a library's archive!) showing no fine print. Subsequently, all their ads were qualified by fine print stating that some aircraft may not be fitted with the flat bed seats! It was during the time QF had a couple of minor accidents with two of their 744's - one overran a runway in BKK, the other I can't remember, but it meant that they had to rush a couple of old or borrowed (from MH, I think) 744's into service.
