When Did The Tailcone Painting Trend Start?

Thu Apr 27, 2006 4:24 am

Before, the livery was painted on the vertical tail and there would be another decal across the fuselage.

These days I am seeing more and more that the tailcone of the plane gets painted another with the vertical tail as complimentary, i.e. UPS and Thai International, for example.

Is this a recent trend (5 yrs) or am I just noticing it?

Delta kind of does this, with the light blue bottom of the "flag" on the tail.
