Desired Route Or Routes From Your City?

Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:18 pm

Ok,so were not all airline route people but sometimes we as close watchers of the industry can honestly say we see a route that makes sense and could be profitable.About 4 years ago I thought CYEG could use a link to Las vegas and Phoenix on a daily basis,so I hit the America west website and contacted customer service and informed them of the large demand from YEG to those cities.I was surprised to get e-mail back saying the message had been handed off to the proper person and 6 months later HP launched service to YEG to both cities nonstop and the routes have been a huge success for the carrier who used CRJ-900s initially and now uses 733s and A319s on the flights.I would like to think me contacting the carrier in this way played a part in the airlines decision to fly here or was it just a stroke of luck? Not sure myself but my question goes out to all what cities do you think could be linked to your airport or airports, your ideas could go a long way...
Guess what???I dont like you either...

Jetblue has that thing now on their website where you can tell them what cities you think should be linked together.

I would love NW to pick up an IND-SEA route.
Live your dream.

Simple...

LH FRA-SJO (747 if you please; this would replace the current DE flight)
LT DUS-SJO
KL AMS-SJO
BA LON-SJO (or VS) LON-SJO (I put only the London metro code since I'd prefer if the route was flown out of LHR, not LGW, however I do not mind any flights from MAN by ZB or DP).
TP LIS-SJO
AF CDG-SJO

Then again, this is all just wishful thinking, since those routes would provide excellent connections to HAM). Though it seems KL and/or AF are a very likely option to actually start up at SJO, along with BA (in the case of BA and KL, they would rather be returning, if they ever did that).

I'd like there to be a commuter style flight between all the London airports. A small aircraft that just flies in a loop like a bus.

LGW-STN would be really handy.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

From San Diego I would love:

SAN-LHR I'd even take LGW for that matter (why did they stop this service anyways...much smaller US Cities have direct service)
SAN-MIA would be just great
I am pretty much satisfied with everything else...

I'd like to see the Wright Amendment repealed, then we could get exiting new routes like DAL-MDW/OAK/BNA/BWI/PHX/PHL/LAS/MCO

Exeter has now been craving AMS for over three years now, just the slots that BE want are still not avliable.

Also that it has now become more important now, considering the sucess of the 2x daily (weekdays) service to CDG, which is seeing regular loads of 80%, proof that passengers want a commuter, business day trip friendly service from their local airport.

With Regards,

Would be great to see a Triple 7 doing the MXP-LAX, I really miss this route. Also I'd like to see a 747 flying MXP-SYD (both via SIN or BKK) and MXP-SIN, perhaps on SIA and why not, a/c an A380!!  Wow!

Cheers

Not wanting to attribute to dream-routes ...  Wink
I seriously see some potential for a flight to GVA from my homebase HAJ.

Another destination that was dropped not too long ago would be WAW.
IMO bad marketing (on the german side) and unfavourable timings by C0 (Centralwings) were among the factors that led to cancellation of this service (together with HAJ - KTW) ...

Another spot not served from HAJ would be Ireland. Maybe AB can add a flight to DUB from its STN-hub ?

And BTW, I do not need BA re-establishing flights to LGW ... Big grin

My city will be Bergen, Norway (BGO) in about a months time, so I will count this as my home city.

I really wish LH or SK would open up a direct route to either FRA or MUC. Being a Star Alliance member means that the only hub with world-wide connections availbale is CPH. A direct route to FRA or MUC would make things a lot easier for Star Alliance members like me.

Another route YEG needs is a year round link to Halifax and St.johns with all the Easterners outhere they always complain about flying to YYC.WS just launched a nonstop to YHZ but St.johns is still missing.YEG-FRA has been rumored now for over a year and Edmonton airports authority has admitted they are working with LH for the route and are now in the final stages for it,LH will likely use a A330-200 for the flight. But it has yet to be announced. So for now we still get the TS A330 to FRA.Once YEG was linked to FRA,LGW,LHR,MAN,AMS,CPH, and WAW.
Guess what???I dont like you either...

I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed Bergen  Smile. I've been living in Trondheim for one year now pursuing my master studies, but will return to Bergen, my hometown, in order to write my main thesis next year. Although Trondheim is OK it can't even compare to Bergen! There's just something special about it. . .especially now when summer is approaching.

Hm. . .seems to be getting a bit off-topic here. Come to think of it, I'd also love for Bergen to get a direct flight to LHR. As it is now, SAS/Braathens flies to Gatwick, but this is a late afternoon flight, so it really is not a convenient flight for connecting to the rest of the world. Norwegian has a morning flight to Stanstead, but given the location of the airport, connection is difficult here as well. I know Stavanger has a direct morning flight to LHR, so I am a bit puzzled why there is no flight to BGO. Is it because the oil industry has so many offices in Stavanger perhaps?

SEA-PEK or PVG
SEA-FRA
It pretty much has the domestic routes covered.

I'd like to see the long-rumored SEA-NGO on NH and SEA-CDG on AF routes materialize. I think daily non-stops to MSY and TPA could be succesful, and I imagine AS will add those to their system at some point in the next ten years or so.

I agree tht PBI and JAX are needed for DL service to SLC direct. Some additional possibilities from SLC from DL and WN;
WN:
SLC-SAN
SLC-HOU
SLC-YVR
SLC-YYC
WN should look at adding service to Canada sooner than later and force DL to be more competitive on such routes.
DL Connection/SkyWest:
SLC-YQL: Yes folks, Lethbridge has a market to SLC and beyond!
SLC-YYJ: Make this seasonal route year around so Vancouver Island can tell BC Ferries to go jump in the straits!
SLC-YQR: Help these folks avoid falling back to MSP to go west bound.
DL Mainline:
SLC-GRR New Service
SLC-MKE Shuttle America Upgrade
SLC-IND " "
SLC-CMH " "
SLC-PIT New Service
SLC-YVR SkyWest Upgrade
SLC-YYC " "
SLC-YEG " "
SLC-YUL New Service (AC might be better for this than DL though)
Outside the US & Canada for DL:
SLC-MEX
SLC-SXM Seasonal-Nov-Apr
SLC-PUJ Seasonal-Nov-Apr
SLC-POP Seasonal-Nov-Apr
For the later three, if Mexican resort destinations can work from SLC, then other Caribbean resort airports can likewise work, although on a seasonal basis. Keep in mind SLC is DLs Hawaii gateway going direct to all 3 major airports there. The Caribbean airports I listed above are an hour closer to SLC than Hawaii!
Finally DL or SkyTeam to Europe:
SLC-CDG
SLC-LGW
SLC-FRA

and i think NCE-NRT could work too (not on a daily basis but with 2 or 3 weekly flights) !

Since BA's withdrawal from the route, there has been no service from LGW to any of the Paris airports. It seems strange that London's second airport is not linked to Paris, and the only service available from Orly is Air France's service to LCY.

Competition from Eurostar is a reason cited why LGW does not have any services to the French capital. But for people like me who live on the south coast, getting to Folkestone or Ashford to catch Eurostar would be a nightmare and would take ages.

I really want this route! It would save me all the connections that I have to make to get to Manchester. Last time I went to MAN I had to connect in YVR and LHR and it was horrible! I don't know if there are really any airlines that would want to do this though since BD doesn't really have the aircraft and may not be stable enough to provide a route like this. As for BA they're perfectly content flying to LHR only.

I would like to see service returned to my hometown airport of ONT to the following cities, which used to be flown by the following airlines:

ONT-ORD (Flown by AA & UA)
ONT-STL (Flown by TW)
ONT-EWR (Flown very briefly by CO)
ONT-FAT (Flown for many years by SkyWest and DashAir)
ONT-SAN (Flown at one time or another by DL & EA)
ONT-RNO (Flown by Royal West and Reno Air)
ONT-PSP (Flown by SkyWest, Sun Aire, AirCal and TWA)
ONT- AUS & MFE (Flown by Muse Air)
ONT-COS (Flown by Western Pacific)
ONT-MCI (Flown by Eastern and Braniff II)
ONT-BFL (Flown very shortly as a tag on flight by AA to DFW)
ONT-LGB (Flown very briefly as a tag on flight on TW to STL)
ONT-SNA (Flown by Dash Air)
ONT-TUC (Flown very briefly by Air Arizona)
ONT-YYZ (Flown in summer of 2000 by Air Canada)

I guess with all the "very briefly's" that many of those are not economical routes, but I would love to see them back!

Well I can't complain too much since BDL is getting a lot of expansion from DL, but here are a few of my dream routes:

BDL-LHR/LGW (DL or BA)
BDL-FCO/MXP (DL/AZ)
BDL-DXB (DL/AF/Emirates)
BDL-SEA (DL/UA/AS)
BDL-HNL (DL/CO/UA)
BDL-NRT (JL/DL/UA/CO)
BDL-CUN (DL/AM)
BDL-CDG (DL/AF)
BDL-SYD (DL/QF/UA)
BDL-SIN (DL/UA/SQ)

From BDL and BAF,  wave

Not from my city but I feel there is a certain gap at RSW not fulfilled.

For Example:
RSW-LAS
RSW-LAX
RSW-SFO
