It seems that many of us here are very well travelled. So we all know things don't always go very smoothly before/during/after those flights. Tell us about those flights in which you experienced extraordinary/interesting/worth sharing stuff...
Here goes mine:
2 summers ago, when I was studying in Switzerland, I planned a great vacation in the US of A. I was going to do LAS, SFO, SAN, LAX in about 20 days. It was a great holiday but the very start of it was rather interesting. I flew LH on flights from ZRH to LAX, outbound via MUC on an A 340-300 and inbound via FRA on a B 747-400. The MUC-LAX flight had started great. I was seated at the emergency exit and a fellow Turkish pax was next to me and the F/A across us was a Turkish girl so we chatted a lot. It went all well until we were about 2 hours away from LAX. The captain came on the PA and announced that due to very strong unexpected headwinds, we would have to land in LAS for refuelling and that it shouldn't delay us for more than an hour od so. Normally, after landing in LAX, I had 3 hours waiting time to board my WN flight to LAS. Great, I thought. I hope it doesn't take very long. We started our approach, gears down, seconds before landing we lifted up. He came on the PA again and told us that there was a small plane on the runway so we were going to circle around LAS and try again. We made a sharp right bank in very turbulent weather. Half the pax on the plane were vomiting already On our second attempt, we made it. But this time, because it was an unscheduled stop, it took us more than an hour to get the refuelling truck. We finally took off for LAX after 2 hours on the ground. Great. I had missed my flight. I was planning to go to UA and tell them to book me to LAS because I missed my connection because of LH. I went through the passport control, ran to the WN counters just after my original plane left. I told them what happened. He said "Relax. Would you like to be on 18:30 or 19:00 flight?" and he didn't charge me anything extra. I thought this was great. In Europe, they would rip you off if you missed your flight.
So I made it to LAS some 2 hours late. I landed in LAS twice and missed landing once in the same day
