It's a narrow body, yet it looks awesome, particularly with the 4 doors and RB211s. Plus its got a rocket like takeoff, its an amazingly flexible aircraft, comfortable on transatlantic hops as well as 1-hour shuttle flights and lastly it's nice to have a proper 4 wheel main bogey as opposed to the wimpy 2 wheel ones on the 32X and 737.

It is an versatyle aircraft, can use short Runway, SXM, LIH. The plane can fly high and with speed, carry around 200 people. Can be use at a short hop, medium and can be use on route from west coast to Hawaii, from east coast to some European destination, can fly cross country... BOS-SAN or MIA-SEA

Flexible plane who looks like a rocket

For me, it's the vulture or 'baby Concorde' look of its nose.

From a broad viewpoint, most modern airliners look very much alike, but the 757 is a little bit different.

Sorry, but personnaly, I think the B757 (especially the B757-300) is one of the ugliest aircraft ever built, with the DC8-63 !!!

I agree that the 757-300 is too long.
Almost all airliners have overstretched variants though.

For me, it's the versatility as well. That and the nose just looks cool!! For the longest time, my favorite Boeing aircraft were in order of size, 747 being the favorite. Then, the 757 took the second spot. Figures, about that time is when Boeing killed the line.  irked  But the thing is awesome, plain and simple. The airplane was too good for the job!  bigthumbsup

I don't like the 757-300. But the 200 is a great aircraft. The truth is the 757 isn't exactly pretty in my opinion, it has a very snake like shape and the nose it very menacing. BUt that is why I love it. I looks like an intimidating aircraft. I remember the first time i saw one, was when AA used it in place of the 727 on their SJU/GND flight. And I had no idea what type of plane that was. I was like damn that jet look funny, but was is it.

The guys are right, performace of the 757 is awesome. My brother and I like to call it a big MD-83. Flying the 75' is off the hook too. It is one of the best narrow body aircraft around today.

I've always said the 757 can be described in a single acronym: BAMF

I think what I like most about it is its pure power. It has such excellent single engine performance, Boeing saw no need to incorporate a fuel-dump system into it. I like how it sits much higher than all other narrowbodies, giving it the image of "looking down" on everyone else. I like how it is as comfortable doing a CAT-3C approach into Vail as it is doing a visual approach into LAX. I like that it is so versatile it can fly Trans-Atlantic alongside the 767's and 777's, but it is still also capable of flying IAD-DCA with unmatched maneuverability.

It was a sad day when the 727 was retired from mainline fleets, but it'll be even worse when the 757 begins to get replaced!!

Now, of course, the photos. My personal favorite of all the 757's are those with Pratt motors and the type-2 exits aft of the wing:

I like the 757 for it's shape. Most others look chubby while all the parts of the 757 seem in proportion of each other.

Oh dont' forget about SNA to EWR B752 flights. Nice roomy flight deck! It was the first large motor jet....perfect for EGE with the Cottonwood Canyon and single engine performace to keep the takeoff weights up. Fast, climbs like a rocket, efficient, quiet motors, rugged, love the lines and the nose, withexcellent range.

The -300 is a POS....as a friend said, "they took a race horse and turned it into a plow horse with the 300.

The thing I love most about the 757 is its versitality, the fact that it can do anything. From medium range passenger airliner, to cargo transport the 757 is arguably the best desgined airliner of the 20th century. Plus, it looks great with good paint.

The nose, the proportion, the power, the versatility, the ultimate flying pencil.

Ultimately the 757 isn't like any other aircraft out there.

It looks awesome in any airline's livery.

The most elegant tail of any aircraft.

Graceful wings.

Long, elegant fuselage on the -200; longer and even more elegant on the -300.

HUGE engines (especially the P&W's)

I've always thought it was the perfectly sized/proportioned airplane. It's the picture of how an airliner is 'supposed' to look. One of my flight instructors said it looked like a bird that couldn't wait to take flight. I couldn't agree more!

There are a few things I like about it - some personal, some general.

- As I've never flown a wide-body, a 757 flight for me is a "big" flight, and it's the only jet I've flown on to recieve an ATC "heavy" designation.
- Of the various US-made narrowbodies, the 757 has the newest fuselage design shape-wise, and it looks it
- The powerful take-offs.
- The big engines.
- And it's the largest plane flying my number one route (MSP-PHX).

The 757 is a very unique aircraft, too bad Boeing decided to scrap the line.
I was excited to see a BLUE DART 757 in MAA last month, the first time I see one in India.

I love it because of its looks and the awesome take-off.

Okay....I love the 700, just not quite as much but put the 700 into EGE, does it get dispatched at the same % of gtow as the B752 and if you lose a motor, mmmmm! Have to disagree about the "serious overplays".

Come on, the 757 is a seriously powered aircraft. I don't think it is overplayed at all.

I have never been on a 737-700, but i have been on the -800 and i was stunned at the acceleration to takeoff. I flew and A321 once from LGA/PIT and the takeoff out of LGA was pretty awesome. My personal favourite is the MD-83 though, I am yet to fly an aircraft that gave me a steeper climbout. Noone ever talks about it, so maybe it was just my experience and the MD isnt really powerful. BUt I remeber so serious take off on BW when they flew the MD-83.

It is a ridiculously overpowered NASCAR-rocket with graceful lines and remarkably good operating economics.

It is rarely, if ever, weight restricted, on flights from PHX and LAS in summer. Hawai'i may be the exception.

It is an economical plane that flies comfortably on short hops as well as transatlantic. CO has found the 757 to be the perfect plane for routes from EWR to Europe (smaller airports), and several airlines fly SFO and LAX to Hawai'i with it.

It is as large a narrow-body plane as there is - if I cannot fly a wide-body, I look for a 757.

I know the 752 is borderline, but all of my 752 flights have been NW, and whenever I listen to LiveATC.net's MSP feeds, it seems most if not all of the NW 752 flights are "heavy," although it might depend on the load factor, in which case I've definitely been on "heavy" 752 flights - they seem to have been packed to the gills.

Actually, NWA's 757-200's are certified to lower weights than most of the legacy carriers.

757-251: PW2037, MGTOW 225,000 lbs
757-351: PW2040, MGTOW 240,000 lbs

So even their -300's do not make the "heavy" designation!! Of course, this does not mean that flight crews and ATC aliike will tack on the "heavy" callsign anyway, even for the -200's, because the 757 is still one big plane!!

An empty A321 could do the same stuff probably but the FBW might limit it. The A321 has just as good takeoff performance but its general climb performance is worse. I've never flown on a real 757 but if it beats the 321 takeoff performance I had I'll be surprised.

All 757's are classified as "heavy". It is the only narrow body with the designation (and of course all widebodies as well) due to the aerodynamic characteristics of the wake it leaves behind. It is identified as such for increased separation by ATC to prevent small twins, like B73x and A32x from getting kicked around.

I've had many experiences with the 757. Its my second favorite aircraft (first is 767.) The rocket-like take-off is one of it's best features, but its versitility in range is another huge factor. I was chatting with an AA pilot at MIA and he said that the 757s are by far the best aircraft and most reliable in the fleet (from his P.O.V.) Personally, I think the 757s also handle turbulence pretty well, but i'm not sure if there is any evidence to that.

I enjoy the fact that ATA can get a 757 into MDW...always a fun approach and takeoff there!

As for appearance, it just looks so majestic on the ground, as if it's not supposed to be there, but in the air rather....absolutely gorgeous!

And one can't argue that this isn't the sexiest thing alive....

Because I was stuck on one for almost 6 and a half hours with 29" legroom???

Seriously, I love the takeoffs, especially when I was in seat 2F. Powerful.

After thinking about it. I think the 757 is my favourite jet.
It was the A320, then the MD-80, and now I like the 757.
This plane reminds me of the Concorde.
Please don't ask me to explain that, maybe it's because of the nose,
maybe the power. I was very upset when Boeing stopped making them.
Although I love AS 737s, the 737 has never been a plane that I have
been very fond of. Now knowing it's there fault, I dislike them even more.

Just a question about pronunciation.

I've always gone with "seven-five-seven"
I've also heard "seven-fifty-seven"
Which one is correct?

It's tall, bold look. Since I am kind of tired of the usual 737, the 757 gives me a fresh look.
It's not just the destination, it's the journey.

I'v had a lot of great flights on a lot of great aircraft. There are always variations. You might have a real powerful take off in a 321 one trip and a less powerful take off on another trip. However, EVERY take off I have had in a 75 has felt powerful. It seems to be the rule rather than the exception.

The 200 is lean and mean sitting high on the ramp.
Comfortable and it GOES.

Rate of climb. Every takeoff I have experienced on the Seven-Five just kicks serious ass!

I enjoy the climb on the 757, especially a lightly laden one. DTW-GRR is a fun one in the 757. Up and down quickly.

I love it for one reason. My first flight ever was on a B757.
