Is There Anyone Else Here Who Likes Airline Food?

Fri Jun 23, 2006 2:16 am

First of all, this is my first thread here on airliners.net, so feel free to point out any suggestions for improvement. My question:
Has anyone else never had a bad experience with the food on airplanes? I, so far, have experienced over 40 flights with a meal being served, all in economy class, and I actually always look forward to the meal and enjoy every part of it. I'm able to tell apart good food from bad food, maybe it's due to the fact I mostly fly european airlines which are usually known to serve better food, or my taste buds get numb at high altitudes. Please share your experiences

I quite like the food on BA but the food on most charter flights is quite frankly awful, even if it is improving on carriers such as TOM.

Welcome to A.net by the way. Hope you like it as much as I do

In general, I LOVE airplane food. I know many people find it not-so-tasty but I think they are  Wink Even if I am on a diet, I definitely eat my meal on a plane (except the desserts maybe).

When I was an F/A, we used to serve mushroom crepe to C class in the mornings. One morning, we had 8 pax who didn't want to have them. I ate them all while we were descending  Wink

Welcome to a.net!

Food, well on the CO International BF we eat until we fall asleep it seems, so much to select from and most all I've had is very good, yes even a fillet! Otherwise, most of the CO first class is good, but I hate the rueben sandwich, asked for a turkey from coach the other night and guess what, I got it with a swap from someone in the back on the totally full B738.

I think the food is decent. A lot of the hype and taste comes from the excitement of being on the trip/flying.

If we had to eat it on a daily basis at home it would probably be pretty bad.

I think airline food is nice. I always fly economy class and I like the way you have everything there in front of you. Salad, desert, rolls, mains ete...

I don't think it tastes bad either

I love eating, and eating in airplanes is important!

Had a salmon steak recently on LY that was simply awesome. Also had duck a l'orange that was superb. Both in economy.

North American airlines need to bring back the food for transcon flights!!

On my very first flight (back in 1973), the poultry-salad served by BX had acquired a blueish/greenish color, so we neglected to eat it. A few days later there were reports in the newspaper of pax having got ill from eating that airline´s food ...

Overall, the quality is good, with only mior backdrops (to my taste).

Best meal I´ve ever had onbaord was a "South American Tenderloin of Beef in Peppercorn-Brandy Sauce", which I enjoyed on tho seperate flights on DL´s B/E.

I love airline food. I don't understand why so many people think that it's the worst tasting food ever made. The only type of food I will not eat is fish or other seafood, except for tuna and octopus. I hate seafood.

Best food I've ever had is on an AM flight from CUN-ATL. They served spicy chicken, spinach, rolls, and dessert.  yummy

I usually fly economy and I really can't remember a bad experience with the meals served. And, to the surprise of some of you, the best meal I've ever had in a plane was aboard an United Airlines 767-300 flight from GRU to ORD. A so rich breakfast that consisted in breads, an omelet, a sandwich, fruits, a cake and a nice variety of beverages available.  Smile
Tam's and AA's food are very good as well, although the American portions are usually too small.
Even with the low cost GOL I had a good sandwich (but cold) with a little cake.
I usually like very much airplane food!

Rgs!
