This has happened to me twice in the past month and it’s pissing me off. Okay I have a full fare Y ticket, and I’m assigned to sit in the first row of the Y cabin, thus I’m usually the last to board the aircraft (As most airlines board passengers from the rear of the aircraft first). In any event by the time I get to my seat, there’s luggage in the overhead bin above me, but I’m the only passenger in that row of seats. Both times the FA “solves” the situation by moving some bags around and making room for my carry-on in the rear of the aircraft. This sucks as I have to wait for everyone to file out before I can walk to the back of the aircraft and pick up my carry-on.
Does the contract of carriage guarantee me space in the overhead bin compartment above my seat? If not why are the overhead bin compartments labeled with corresponding seat numbers?
