Where Are Most Airplanes, Up/down?

Mon Jul 17, 2006 6:28 am

At any one time in the world, are there more airplanes in the air or on the ground?

World wide, if you consider GA, probably on the ground. But commercial. . . hard to say. But I'd say long flights + short turn around times means more planes flying.

Cheers

Yeah, just I wonder sometime when more carriers order more planes than retire, or even in Boeing's Commercial Outlook will make claims of total new airplanes: Where will they all go? I forget that some will be flying, but then, how many?

There are very few things I cannot grasp, the sheer number of aircraft in the world that may end up causing traffic problems as airports may bottleneck due to needing government money that nobody wants to give out makes me not want to.
