I have two ways to answer this topic, first will be watching and spotting the airplane and no doubt the 707 was a great airplane to watch, it was a delight seeing those airplanes, and for me the highest point would be when I could see those "diesel" ones.....and I actually had the chance to see a good bunch of them, I think my highlights were those 100 turbojet versions of TEA from Belgium that used to come in the summer to LIS
, but I also remember seeing a Geminair 707-400 and a few 707-300F's! I still can listen in my head the noise of those old smokers. The turbofan ones were also fun, but those were more regular...TAP had a bunch of them and RG
also flew a lot of them to LIS
. The other way to answer the topic would be when you have to talk about flying, I flew both types too, the 707-300B and C and I also flew the 747-100/200/400. My best memory was my first flight when I flew from LIS
on a RG
-VJH, we took-off from runway 36 ( now 35...) and it was just incredible the power and the climbing of the plane...and to even remember better we had one of the best meals I had in my life, RG
was famours for having one of the best services in the world and it was infact like that.....we flew economy and I was offered hot towels before linch, menu etc. etc. just fantastic! I think the 747 is also a very confortable airplane to fly but the 707 was I would day "different"!
