World's Greatest Airports.

Wed Jul 26, 2006 11:27 am

In my book and with regards to runways it would have to be the following:

DEN.
DFW.
ATL.
ORD.

I flew over DEN when they were dozing the rwys out of the bald prairie and it looked most impressive.

(now will someone hijack this thread title like the Ryanair one and put a question mark against it)

MCO has a nice setup, with the airsides, although interline conx can be a bit timely.

DFW is works well traffic wise, and the trains between the terminals help for quicker conx.

I don't know much about runways, but LHR seems pretty cool to me.

You wanna see a little of everything in one day at one airport? Spend one day at JFK.

LHR T3 is certainly an exotic place, for the sheer number of inter continental carriers based there...can any other Terminal in the world match it?

SIN is my favourite, it's convenience, the facilities, the speed and efficiency they get you through
it's the bus to stansted (now renamed National Express a6 to ruin my username)

LHR for sure.

For the variety of airlines and aircraft, the fantastic approach over central London and the fact you can get a flight to so many cities across the globe from it.

I particularly like the fact that thanks to the UK policy of market liberlaisation over the years, although BA is the dominant carrier there, there is far more variety to be seen than at so many other major airports around the world where you are sometimes hard pressed to see much other traffic than that of the local carrier  Smile

I'm more for the smaller airports. Like in northern Washington, ORS, or Orcas Island airport, is the most beautiful airport I have been to. With a south flow, it is like SXM, you come in right over the Puget Sound. North flow you fly right between two hills and fly right over an active road. It is awesome.

For big airports, it would have to be DTW. They have really put a lot of effort into making it a beautiful and efficient airport.

Runways: DEN
Terminal Layout: PIT
Craziness: ORD, LAX, ATL
Overall Layout: PIT or DEN... both have alot of room for expansion and minimal delays.
