Very nice. I took a 300 series from Bangkok to Chiang Mai which was only 55 minutes, you'll probably take the 200 series. The only thing I didn't like was the windows which were quite low. Have a great trip!

2-4-2 seating in ECO and IMHO a PTV. I can't confirm this though, as it is not on the LX website.

They are quiet and have decent seat width. Apart from that I cant think of anything that distinguishes the A330 from other long haul jets from a passengers perspective.

No, he was most probably not wrong. You might have a 343. LX 16 has 332 and on some days 343. I love the 332 but let's hope you have the 343. Both have PTVs but only the 343 has a real video on demand system and it also has outboard cameras which are interesting.

Edited: I looked it up on the LX homepage: for thursday August 17th a A 330-200 for LX 16 is scheduled (but you never know, perhaps they change equipment).

Great craft, especially if you have a good wing view from your seat. The wings on the A330/340 are gorgeous i think, no other AC have as gracious a wing settlement as the A330/340.

I flew on an ex LX A332 (with LH at the time) from FRA to ALA a few years back, it was a nice trip in all aspects.

I agree. The wings are really elegant and impressive. They look best at the 330-200 because the wingspan is bigger than the lengh of the aircraft. When you see them landing from the front or taking off from back they look like an elegant Albatross.

The A330 is a great a/c, very pax-friendly (2-4-2 in Y), with a decent interior design, and reasonably quiet. I only flew the 300 (343X model) but I don't think there's much difference with the 200...

This is on the LX website. I just booked a ticket with them (first flight with LX and the 332 and the 321), and I had a look at the IFE information for both 332 and 343. Unfortunately no 343s here at YUL!!!!
Great airline website by the way, easy and efficient to use, very basic design but nice to look at, the relevant info is there, easy to find. Good and professional stuff.
The 332 PTV is 6" (standard size?) without any kind of AVOD, 343 PTV is 9" (they claim this is the largest Y PTV worldwide) with full AVOD.

AFAIK Y legroom is 32".
When I doubt... go running!

Don't know about Swiss, but the A 330 is my favourite aircraft. Cathay are just fantastic.

yes I have to agree, I am about to book my annual trip on cx103 hkg-bne very soon. Though it still has the old style business class seat, I LOVE that bird.

Agree there are days they could use a 343 between ZRH-YUL!! However the 332 is very nice to fly with and it is one of the reasons why I always fly ZRH-YUL-YHM with Swiss/Jazz versus the 67 from AC ..............

Cheers,

Depends...when I flew GVA-JFK a month ago, we started at 32,000 and it got really, really rough. So we climbed to 36,000 and it got really, really rough. So we climbed to 40,000 and it stayed really, really rough all the way to JFK. It responds to turbulence like most any other plane.

It does have limited AVOD. You can choose what movie/TV show you watch (but it only starts at certain times) and there are games, flight tracker, shopping, and some other stuff.

Overall, LX is amazing, regardless of how the IFE is. The service is spectacular, and on flights originating from Switzerland, you usually get a thing of Movenpick ice cream at the end, which is unbelievable.

The 332 is very comfortable, and my favorite plane.

I have two trip reports in the TR forum right now about my trips to and from Switzerland this summer, both on their 332's. Here's the links if you're interested: Switzerland 2006 Part I LX17 JFK-ZRH (by ANITIX87 Jul 22 2006 in Trip Reports) Switzerland 2006 Part II - LX22 GVA-JFK (by ANITIX87 Jul 22 2006 in Trip Reports)

Enjoy your flight!!!

I flew EI #146 back in June on EI-LAX in F-class and the flight was very nice. Very smooth flight and nice PTV and IFE. The meals were good to and I got to watch Syirana 3 times.  Smile

First time for me was NGO-DPS-NGO on Garuda. I flew F down and Y back. It was quiet, smooth and comfortable.

Second time was NGO-HKG-NGO on CX. Flew Y round trip. Just comfortable, quiet and smooth.

I can see why many carriers have bought it. Great experience.

The 330 for LX is a great aircraft. It is light and spacious and with the slim economy seats it allows for greater pitch in economy. I flew JFK-ZRH-JFK a few years back in LX first and it was one of the most enjoyable flights I have ever had. I noticed how quiet the aircraft was even from the back galleys. What class are you flying in?
