WN As The Funniest Airline, YES Or NO

Fri Aug 18, 2006 6:26 am

I saw on "Funniest pilot announcements" that there were alot of WN compliments. Please give me your opinion. I think they are. You should fly them if you havn't.

Well.. I will give my opinion on this matter. This will also be the only post I will make on this thread.

Southwest is funny...... That airline is the biggest JOKE of this airline generation. Successful? Yes. But there is more to an airline than the money it makes.

Thank you.

I've flown SA)">WN about 5 times and have yet to hear any funny announcements. If I had to choose I'd go with MESA airlines, they've always had a sense of humor in-flight.

WN has made tons of funny pages at PIT. They are constantly having fun there.

Only took 2 flights on WN, but no funny announcements. They do what they say they will do, and do it very well. Some people seem to resent the fact that they are successful, but they are because they keep it simple. Just because they don't have first class, and a lot of other amenities, doesn't mean they are second class. I have had a lot of worse flights on some so-called "full Service" carriers. It is absolutely ludicrous IMHO that people need all these services on flights that are any less than coast-to-coast transcon.
Simplicity is obviously the recipe for continuous success.
Sorry, a steered off the topic of funny announcements, but I had to get my 2 cents' worth in.

Although I fly WN many times a year, sometimes I wish they would just shut up. I dont mind funny little announcements, but when they talk most of the flight it just becomes annoying.

And yes, I do like WN.

I have never flown WN but I have been on Song a couple of times and they tried to be funny, I just thought it was annoying.

WN, and sorry, but this is my personal opinion - is annoying. I try to avoid them at all costs. They try to be funny but I can't stand it.

In the 1980s my parent's neighbor was a pilot for Republic out of DEN. He would dress up like Santa Claus on flights around Christmas. We had the pleasure of being on his DC-9 from LAS to DEN in 1986 and his announcements made everyone laugh. His name is Jim Nance, last I heard he worked for NWA, but that was in the mid 1990s. I think he was one of the funniest pilots I ever met.

I will make a second post saying that I agree in full with the above comments.

My wife flew WN today back from SEA. I told her to Non-Rev the trip on CO, but she didn't want the hassle of going to IAH first, so she went on WN. I, of course, didn't give WN a dime. She used some of her mother's bazillion WN miles.

So, when I picked her up today, she told me that the WN crew wasn't friendly at all and she agreed she should have non-reved.

I fly WN about a dozen times a year, perhaps because they go where I need to go. I basically need to get from point A to point B and I feel that I really do not need this entertainment. I agree with the others here about this humor being on the annoying side. It`s not the crew in the front office it is the cabin help. I just put my headphones on and ignore them. I do like their simple approach to this industry, and I enjoy doing business with them, just be quite OK.

WN crews never lived up to the expectations of being funny that were portrayed on Airline. That's not to say that the people who work at WN aren't great or that the airline is bad. Personally I have had bad experiences and don't want to fly them. I think the funniest airline was when I flew on Song a few times. They made some funny jokes about Mullin and management slinking the ship that the south built and other assorted topics almost Jerry Seinfeld like.

I had an interesting experience on WN when flying LAX-LAS. There was one male FA who seemed to take a real interest in me and my friend. I'm pretty sure it was to do with our charming English accents!  Wink

One of the female FA's made a great announcement when we touched down at LAS. "Ladies and Gentleman, welcome tooooooooooo Lasss Waaagggesss!!!!" Hilarous!!  Smile

Cheers,

I think F9 should be up there as well, with their commercials. They still air those on tv in any part of the country?
