How Many Airlines Have You Experienced?

Wed Aug 30, 2006 12:16 pm

There are many airline experts on these threads but to judge the industry well you need to see how the other side lives and operates.
So I am looking for the worlds airline expert.....

Who has flown the most airlines?
List 'em all, BUT do not include affiliate companies, only the FLAG CARRIER.

I track them in a spread sheet. After I see what you can bring to the table I will give my global total unless someone beats me.
For instance in Europe alone I have only flown
KL, BA, BCAL, AirUK, AF, AZ, SN, LH, Easy Jet, Ryanair, KLM, MP, IB, FI, Transavia, and more.

This has taught me about Euro Service levels.

What have you learned about our global industry from the airlines?
Some people don't get it. Business is about making MONEY!

I have flown in 5 airlines. I am not really into trying all the airlines in the world. I am the more 'loyal' flyer who try to stick to the least number of airlines as possible.

Malaysia Airlines - MH - Malaysia - 65 legs - Business and Economy
Batavia Air - 7P - Indonesia - 10 legs - Economy
Lufthansa - LH - Germany - 4 legs - Economy
Garuda Indonesia - GA - Indonesia - 2 legs - Economy
Dirgantara Air Service - AW - Indonesia - 2 legs - Economy

Quoting RwSEA (Reply 3):
You don't by chance work for DL reservations do you? Last time I called, I got a friendly man in India whose name was "Alex Porter"... LOL.

No I don't... and that's not the type of name I'd expect to hear from an Indian call center.

Nice lists,
I am up to 46.
Some really obscure ones too.
Zimbabwe Air Express for instance
Comair in South Africa no relation to the one in CVG.
TransAmerica, on a DC8 from AMS to JFK
SQ was good but I had better service on CX.
I am going to take FL some day soon, about the only US carrier I haven't flown.

The list of carriers no longer in business is also interesting:
PSA
Western
Hues Air West
Canada 3000
Royal
British Caladonian
Canadian
Pan Am
TWA
Alleghany
Frontier (1)
Braniff
Evergreen of Oregon, but they still have a cargo business.

Do I count the new PanAm of New Hampshire as a resurection or as Boston and Maine airways or as Pan Am?

I maintain a list at the office I'll post it on Tuesday.
Some people don't get it. Business is about making MONEY!
