British Airways World Traveller Plus

Sun Sep 24, 2006 10:05 pm

Hi,

Thinking of going to New York for a few days in a couple of months and thought i'd see if BA's World Traveller Plus is worth the extra money. Has anyone experienced and it and if you have what was it like, would you reccomend it and what do you get for the extra cost? I'd most likely be flying MAN-JFK on one of BA's 767-300's.

Thanks

Mark

I am curious too - I just spent the extra money to fly World Traveler Plus PHL-LHR and back on a BA 777 [though my connection through LHR has me in Euro Traveller].

The bump in fare on this side of the pond wasn't that bad - IIRC about US$300. roundtrip - for me certainly worth the extra legroom alone.

Have a great trip!

Traveller plus was definately worth it to me. My family and I flew IAH-LHR-CPT last Christmas and it was worth every penny for the upgrade. The seats are wider and the increase in legroom is noticable-I'm 6ft2" and Traveller is always a struggle with the 31" pitch. Also the smaller cabin in WTP helped rid the trip of a bus ride feeling. Enjoy it!
I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning.

That says it all, totally agree, go for it, I flew BA from Heathrow to Singapore and it was a very quiet, comfortable and enjoyable experience, bit of a pity the rest of the journey was with Qantas.......

Used it a few times on the B744/B772 - for me, it was certainly worth the extra money. It provides enough legroom to more or less stretch out, and enough width to not feel crammed in.

However my flights in World Traveller Plus were to the West coast USA/Canada (LAX/SFO/YVR/SAN) and are a good 3 or 4 hours longer than to JFK. It would depend on how much extra it is in WTP and how much you're willing to pay for it.

I've flown WTP+ loads of times and intend to fly it again this winter from LHR-DXB...

Best value for price..not too expensive but good service, seat pitch as well as power adapters for laptops....

Yeah I looked on ba.com yesterday and to upgrade was about £80 to £90 one way which I thought was worth it. Was tempted to try Club World, but I just can't bring myself to spend £2,000 on a return flight lol.

WTP is good, but I do feel that BA needs to up the ante a little with it, and bring in some of the minor extras that others such as Virgin with their Premium Economy offer, such as seperate/dedicated check-in, priority boarding, pre-take off drink.

That would make WTP even better than the already great option!

I think overall (and especially compared to VS) BA offers the BEST price/service offering in premium economy globally.

I flew in World Traveller Plus from PHL to LHR back in June on a 777.

I liked it, but since I was a non-rev, I cannot say whether it is worth the money or not.
My ticket was only about $65.

WTP is a good product. It does exactly what it says on the tin - more room and a smaller, quieter cabin. Well worth the extra cost, especially considering the excellent prices you mention.

In terms of service there are a couple of subtle extras for WTP pax - a newspaper and a real glass (rather than plastic) for your wine.

Hi, I posted a trip report for MAN-JFK in WT+ should find it here:
BA MAN-JFK-MAN In World Traveller Plus March '06 (by Highpeaklad Mar 25 2006 in Trip Reports)?searchid=74461&s=#ID74461

I thought it was worth the money, when the seat in front was reclined I could stretch my arms out in front and not touch it. I've booked to go again next March, but have upgraded myself from WT+ to Club class, using 25000 BAmiles, so make sure you join the BA exec club and start shopping at Tesco with a Tesco credit card.
See here for more info:

They may have AVOD on the route soon. How much are you paying? The recent BA sale finished recently but they are offering WT+ at discounted rates again. I paid £490 for March '07. I would recommend the Metro Hotel in NY (booked through ba.com) for its central location, just round the corner from the Empire State building.

Hope you have a good trip, ask away if you have any more questions.

Chris

Hope you have a good trip.

hello-
My brother has tried it and said that it was fine, nothing to write home about, but better then sitting in back. Also I had heard that BA is having a discount on WT+, I'll get the link on here in a bit, but at the moment Im busy

Thanks for the info guys. I'm tempted to give Virgin's Premium Economy a try instead now, I know it costs a bit more though. Is it worth it over BA?

Never tried the VS one although the VS marketing does make it sound a lot more sexy than the BA one.

I flew World Travller Plus SYD-LHR-SYD about 6 months ago, was quite impressed although I'd have a hard time paying the required premium given the service is the same as normal Y, even for this long flight (I travelled on an agent discount ticket).
