Maybe going by KLM which goes direct from AMS.. Try going to Bahrain since its is just across the Arabian Gulf maybe half an hour away by car. QR goes daily from DOH, so does EK. Try these but see KLM first.

Here are some of the available options:

EWR-AMS-DMM - KLM (332/772 & 763)
JFK-AMS-DMM - KLM (744/772 & 763)
JFK-DXB-DMM - Emirates (77W/345 & EQV)
JFK-AMM-DMM - Royal Jordanian (342 & E195)
EWR-FRA-KWI-DMM - Lufthansa (744 & 333)
JFK-FRA-KWI-DMM - Lufthansa (744/343 & 333)
JFK-AUH-DMM - Etihad Airways (345 & 332)

I would reccomed either KLM or Etihad Airways. Etihad could be cheaper as the JFK-AUH route would be new and the airline could be offering special fares.

QR could also be an option when they begin their NYC flights  Smile

Another option is SV:

JFK-JED-DMM (744 / MD90)

However the transit in Jeddah isn't that great.

My dad lived in Dammam from 2003-2005 and his preferred method was to fly in and out of Baharain (more options), and use the Causeway.
Keep on truckin'...
