Air France Vs British Airways

Sat Oct 07, 2006 4:57 am

According to Startrax, Air France and British Airways are both four-star airlines...but which do you think is better? What are their main differences? Is there really a difference between the two ???!!!

I´m trying to make up my mind whether to start using AF or BA for my trips to Europe next year. I´m both a Skyteam and Oneworld member.

Your opinions and suggestions will be much appreciated.

There is nothing wrong with either carrier, but you as you said in an earlier post are already a Skyteam elite, which brings you many advantages, don't forget you can also take KLM to Europe. Air France gets good ratings and not much to complain about, with BA a good airline, but LHR is not a fun airport to connect or do anything in, with AF you get the new CDG airport or KLM at the great AMS airport. I would say stick with skyteam, you'll get more out of it and still have great service.

Thanks, I think you are right, while I would love to fly BA to Europe and LA to south america, the truth is that living in Mexico makes AM the best choice as I would maximize the benefits of being Elite Plus.

I needed an objective, rational opinion as I tend to be very emotional on these topics.

Cheers

AF anyday. much more exciting to fly with them. besides they have always been cheaper than BA when i have compared for fares.
& more importantly you avoid LHR if you fly AF.

Interesting, I find AF much more expensive than BA.

This is hard for me, as these are my two favourite airlines but I would advise you because of your Skyteam status and CDG to go AF, the service is a dream, the food is some of the best in the skies and the aircraft are in excellent condition with pleasant cabin ambience,

I'm also a big advocate of Air France. I enjoyed British Airways but looking at them both the service on AF was a bit nicer than BA and like Sam said the cabin atmosphere was incredible.

Since AF is currently operating 14 flights a week vs. BA's 4 from MEX I believe the market has spoken. I last couple of times to Europe I flew AF and it was a treat. (Besides they had a big sale on business class, which wasn't much more than coach.)

AF any day, although my British/German heart is bleeding when I write this...
AF is by far the best European airline if you ask me.  Smile

I agree, AF all the way. I flew countless times on them in Tempo, Tempo Challenge, and Affaires (within Europe and intercontinental) and all my flights were simply fantastic! Always friendly staff, always good food, always good wines, etc.!

But I also have to say that BA is a pretty good airline, they offer a decent Economy and Business Class product and I was never dissapointed by them.

Thank you all for your opinions. I have flown AF in the past and found the airline to be very, very good but I have never had any experience with BA, though I have heard terrific things about it.

I would´ve never thought that AF was as good as BA but your opinions have made me realize that they are not behind BA despite all the publicity of the latter.

AF all the way m8. They are a great airline and not to mention they have the best looking FAs in the business (if you care for that)  Wink

Airport wise, both LHR and CDG are not very good to connect. AMS on the other hand is a very nice airport...

Both BA & AF are excellent airlines but I've a clear preference for AF for the great quality of service, including in coach, the new premium products, the vey nice Christian Lacroix F/A uniforms, etc.

I like BA lounges better, but in the sky AF are generally very good and the loyaly program is MUCH more generous than BA's.

British Airways. I've flown with both and have seen the quality of service that each airline offers. I find that the quality is better with BA, and that the condition of their planes is better, the seats are more comfy etc. I also like BA's network more...and when in partnership with AA, its easy to go anywhere in the world.... AF is great, I just think BA overall has a better product and better services.

Air France has more advantages than British Airways.

As example: AF flies daily from its hub of CDG to many African cities as OUA, BKO, CKY, ABJ, DKR, LOS, NKC, NDJ, FIH, SSG ... that other airlines do not flies.

Well , AF needs to expand little more to NBO (but I cannot believe to rivalise with its partner KL).

AF has also a great network to South America: EZE (direct flights), CCS, SAO, RIO, CAY,... and BA has flights to Argentina with stop in SAO.

BA is better than AF in flights to Oceania and many cities in USA but, in my opinion, as network, AF wins BA.

In comfort terms speaking, I prefer BA than AF  Confused  Confused  Confused No, yes  Confused  Confused  Confused

I can not decide for one of two.

I would pick BA anytime!! THey have better seats and inflight entertainment. The terminal in LHR is crowded but still nice.-- though not as nice as the CDG.. .Then again, have to concentrate on the plane itself--which BA's is much better seats!!!! Flat seats in business and first. What more do you want?
