Who (a.net Member) Flew The Concorde?

Sat Oct 14, 2006 2:11 am

I did it...back in 1.985 from Paris (CDG I guess) to NY JFK. Don´t know the AF reg. number. I still have the bag with toothbrush, magazine and some other souvenirs like pics taken by me. I remember a very short visit to the cockpit. Flight was only 3 hours and half and I remember that we left around 11:30 AM from Paris and arrived like at 10 AM in NY and was funny to me because I lived the same time twice in one day (from 10 AM to 11:30 AM).
It is of course an experience I will never forget.
And you?

One of the A.net members was a F/A on the Concorde. Can´t remeber who that was.

I think FLYSSC was it.  Smile

I never got to fly it, and that is sad. There is a certain banned A.net member living up in Baton Rouge who flew Concorde something like 12 times. I think you can figure out his SN

I flew AF JFK-CDG-JFK in the winter of 2000 for my 30th birthday. I used 200000 Delta miles. It was my gift to myself!

I never flew her, as I was too young to go staff travel and too poor to go as a commercial passenger  banghead
However, my father flew on Concorde on a test flight when he worked on her with BA, I beleive it G-BOAG (now at Seattle) during the 1980's when he was incharge of getting her in service.

20Jul97 BA004 G-BOAD JFK LHR

It was FABulous - got a brilliant Hotline deal (GBP640.00 subsonic outbound, Concorde return), spent the weekend at the Plaza, HEUUUGE stretch limo to the Concorde entrance at JFK T7, smoked salmony nibblies in the god-awful Terence Conran lounge, then 3 hours of pampering and champagne across the Atlantic. Best flight ever.

I never got to fly on it, I devoted every second of my time learning about it, reading, watching shows and such, I always thought when I was older I WAS going to fly on her, lets just say when I heard they were going to retire her; it was the saddest day of my life...  cry

When I were travel agent, British Airways made a fam trip to fly from BCN to LHR in a Concorde.

My father and me were awarded with two one way tickets.

G-BOAD were the aircraft. The flight were to ATH and there the plane took speed and GO TO LONDON!!!

The flight time from ATH to LON were of only one hour.

Sadly, my father died only two weeks before of this flight.

I'll miss you.

I watched that live on the BBC in Sydney... couldn't believe I missed flying on her... but it was awesome to see three land in a row. If only that was regular...
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

I flew CDG-JFK-CDG in january 2002 on AF SSC (don't know registration). Absolutely fabulous and unexpected great spring weather in NYC (in january !). It's an unforgettable souvenir. I kept everything : menus, baggage tags, boarding passes, etc. And I have nice diplomas i my bedroom to prove that I crossed twice the sound barrier !

Sadily I never got to fly on concorde, although I have had the privledge of Viewing around the test concorde at Duxford, as well as a BA concorde in Scotland (I forget where, it's at some small random museum in the middle of no where). Also I got to sit in the Queen's favourite seat  Smile - number 1A

I flew LHR-BGI in 1999- it was a party the whole way down- about 3h 45 to Barbados, and we arrived early in the morning, refreshed and with an extra day to our holiday.

I will never forget the experience and the exhilarating take off. What a wonderful flight that was!

My mum's boss always used to use Concorde when going to New York. Strange because anywhere else he said he could only fit into a First Class seat but somehow managed to squeeze into Concorde  Smile

Did seem to have a lot of maintenance trouble though, a couple of times they would have to be squeezed into the available First and Club seats on the standard flights. I'd hate to be the agent who has to rebook 100 First Class passengers.

I believe I have been on the concorde over 2000 times as an elite captain for BA. When it was removed from the skies BA layed me off and I ended up on a CO ERJ-145. I prefer the Embraers...

Keep dreaming...
