What Airport You Prefer To Connect At?

Fri Oct 20, 2006 8:39 am

For me its IAH, AUS, JFK, SLC, and DEN.

Never minded a UA to UA at SFO or DEN. Terminal 4 for HP/US and WN at PHX is also very easy to use for connecting passengers.

MBJ. it has my record for the shortest time i have ever spent in a connecting airport: 45 seconds. Cannot beat that.

Seriously though I like Charlotte, DTW and ORD.

AMS for me, can access it from UK regional airport and from there its a gateway to the world. Very easy to navigate around the terminal too!

I've connected at DTW a bunch of times, and the NW terminal is really nice.

ORD is nice, just humongous. I had a 36 min connection going from concourse K to concourse H, and of course my flight into ORD was a little late. And yes, it was all the way at the end of each concourse!

Connecting at ATL is a pain in the ass (bigger than ORD, and I hate changing levels to get to my gate), and PHL was a construction site when I connected there in 1994.

I think DTW is my pick, but would definitely not shy away from ORD.

I prefer not to connect if I can help it!  Wink However I've connected at the following airports:

SJU
MIA
ORD
MAN

Out of them all ORD had to be the best for me! Nice building, lots to do, and just perfect.  Smile

When flying WN from Tucson I like to connect in Las Vegas. Though usually crowded, I prefer LAS over SAN and LAX.

I like the connections at DFW now that the Skylink is available. MIA and STL aren't bad either. When I was flying DL a lot I got to really like CVG for some strange reason as long as I don't have to connect to Comair.

Internationally, I think LHR (international to international only) and CPH are decent for connections. Yes.. I am crazy.

Now, when I travel out of ANC, I prefer DEN. I can go ANC-DEN then on to DSM, CID, ORD, BHM on UA - the places I tend to fly now . . .

Previously, from DCA I would fly US and I preferred CLT or PIT. CLT because my wife was there and PIT because it handily beat that craphole PHL in every respect.

IF CO would ever start a SEA-CLE connection so I could continue to CID or BHM, I fly thru CLE just to harrass Falcon84  duck  wink

DEN, PHX, DTW, MSP, NRT, MDW. Of course, I like to go to as many new airports as possible  Wink

My usual choices are DEN or ORD since I fly United mostly and while DEN is a better airport in all cases, there are times that I prefer ORD. I avoid ORD in the evenings, but for a morning flight, I prefer ORD since flights from ORD to the west coast have food in first class and also have movies whereas DEN does not.

But DEN is better. My next trip is going to be absolutely insane though. I'm flying STL-PHX-LAS-SEA on US Airways because there was a cheap first class fare. I'm anticipating getting stuck in either PHX or LAS. Somehow I don't think I'll make two forty minute connections even though I'm flying in first class.

I agree, CVG is great and convenient (not crowded on runways, at immigration and customs)

You'll probably have a better chance at LAS then PHX of making the connection . . . I've had tight connections at PHX in the past, and found myself walking (briskly) on the moving sidewalks . . . . slowing only for the idiots that are Standing on wrong side . . .  irked

You know the deal, stand to the left walk to the right . . . invariably there's some moron that ignores that . . .

All time best KIX! NRT is pretty good, too. SYD is not bad, international to international, but international domestic is a pain. MEL is better, but not as good as KIX/NRT

My favorite places to connect in are the UA part of SFO. I just love seeing the international terminal there with the bautiful old colors of UA on the 474's. I also like to connect in PHX with HP and ABQ with WN. I actually go out of my way so I can fly into ABQ kinda weird I know.

O'Hare. With my usual route I have a choice of JFK or ORD. I'd pick ORD any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Much nicer people, much smoother transit ... but I'm screwed if there's a storm or anything. From JFK I can hit downtown and take the train (or bus) back home to Boston. No such option from Chicago (at least, none that I want to take.)

My easiest connection was with F9 in DEN as they only have one terminal in DEN. The worst is LHR with BA.

I don't connect much (love having two airlines hub in my home city.) But I prefer to connect at DFW or IAH if my travels take me somewhere I can't nonstop to.

Invariably for me always it is DLG-ANC-where ever else, from ANC, I like going through MSP to the east coast, but SEA seems to happen more often.

You really are crazy. Though I can't speak for CPH, LHR is not a good connecting airport IMO. What is there to like? The lack of air conditioning? The crammed transfer buses? Or my favorite; the large room they take you to that seems to consist only of a winding line of people? Although I must admit, I love the huge variety of widebodies found at LHR

For me, I love to connect at Airports with one very large terminal shaped like a long stick (DEN and DTW). They always seem very open and modern. Despite all the chaos and rude workers, I love LAX. You can fly everywhere from that place. As far as international goes, I really like CHC. The international terminal is quite amazing. It was also completely empty when I was there (CHC-LAX).

CVG - Big, spacious airport. Not busy at all, terminal is often empty. Nice shops (Brookstone, gift shops), great food, and very clean. That's only if you're flying mainline, which is just about impossible when connecting in CVG.

Best

ATL - I've never had problems out of ATL for some reason. Most I've ever been delayed outta there was two weeks ago, sat on the taxiway for about 25 mins...must be lucky I guess?

CVG - If you're flying mainline DL to mainline DL, CVG is a dream airport. One short concourse with moving walkways, great shops, good food (Chick-Fil-A)!

Worst

IAH - can't stand connecting through IAH, especially flying in/out of terminal B.

DFW - before the skylink it was HORRID. Now it's just OK. Still avoid it like the plague.
